August 13 @ 5pm - HowTo: Theming Tips & Tricks - Purdue University - West Lafayette Campus

Start:
2009-08-13 17:00 - 20:00 America/Indiana/Indianapolis
Organizers:

Finally we are off to another meetup!

Last meetup we learned how to create a basic theme in Drupal 6. This meetup we will focus on the theme layer again and learn how to customize data output to your liking.

If you want to follow along on your own machine/laptop/pc (in the lab) then be sure have access to a server (DaveB might have this setup?) where you can ftp/ssh to make changes to your theme files. If you don't have a Drupal theme you can download one from: http://drupal.org/project/Themes

Bending Zen Presentation

Sorry for the wait... Here is a link to the power point file from the Bending Zen presentation at the last Drupal Indy meetup. I will post the screen cast when I can get it finished. I will be walking through the complete creation of a theme starting with the Zen Theme. For now, at least you can reference the information that was the intro to the presentation.

The Power Point file is attached, and here is where I posted it on my blog.

Convert PSD files to Drupal Themes

I found a very interesting resource that coverts a psd file to a Drupal theme. psdtocss (http://psd2cssonline.com/) online claims to accomplish this from their website.

Example site:

Here are a few screencasts from the created.

Geeks and God Theming workshop

So I am watching Geeks and God live right now and they announce that on January 17th either in Detroit or Ohio they are going to be offering a theming workshop. From like 1-6pm. I think this would be a great opportunity to learn about themes.

Any one up for a road trip?

Site relaunch: looking for feedback

Hey everybody, I've recently relaunched my company website, and I'd like to get some feedback on the look and feel. I'm working on a case study for drupal.org on it right now, and I'd like it to be as good as possible before unveiling to a larger audience. Any feedback would be welcome.

Theming Questions?

There seemed to be a lot of interest in theming at the Drupal group last night. This is a place to post your theming questions as you come across them and see if we can't find some solutions. I'm leaving it wide open!

These questions may be addressed or lead to theming workshop at the next meetups. So keep posting here for the next meetup.

Google Launches New Browser - How will this affect us?

Google has launched a new browser called "Chrome." I wonder how this will affect our approach to compatibility. Will this give us more work/headaches? Is this a good thing? Who plans to try it?

Here is a link ==> http://www.google.com/chrome

Drupal Theming with the color module

Hey guys,

I found this very interesting page for integrating the color module into your theme. http://drupal.org/node/108459
Has anyone tried this yet? I haven't had a chance to, but I can't wait to see what I can do with it. As soon as I can, I'll post it here. Just curious if anyone else is into this or not.

CSS design stuff

Changing the design of a template through the CSS - tip

Folks,

You'll forgive me in advance for my obsession with design! And, for those of you already familiar with this little nugget of wisdom, I do not claim to be a wise man - or a nugget.

I am currently working hard to understand how to easily change a design within templates. Eventually to create new templates, or to simply (and drastically) change existing templates. I discovered something that drove me crazy for awhile. Now I am a much happier designer. Again, some of you may already know this...

drupal giordani IE6 css render

Hi folks,

I just discovered an odd occurrence and a fix if you are using the Giordani theme. This theme uses a very cool rotating banner at the top of every page. So, each time you navigate to a new page, new images show-up depending on what images are in the theme folder img/banners/ directory. However, the images do not show up in IE 6. The solution is to change two areas.

1) In the Giordani theme folder, you need to change the name of the banners/ directory to anything other than banners/. This is because Kaspersky firewall program in IE6 blocks the word "banners." Why? Who knows?
