Help me with PHP issues in Drupal
I am trying to learn PHP, as well as build a Drupal site. It is going to be a resource site for women in crisis. This is still in the planning phase, but I do have the site up and Drupal has been installed. What I want to know is how I can edit the PHP for certain things without breaking the site, and what the best method would be for setting up the menus and layout. I am a bit of a beginner, but I do know how to code, and I know MySQL also. Please help if anyone is available.

Dynamic Help
A few weeks ago Sutharsan (Erik Stielstra) proposed a kind of dynamic help for Header Image. Together with Bojhan Somers (Bojhan) we developed his idea into a usable way of creating lists with configuration steps for modules (or anything else you'd like to use it for). Last night I created Dynamic Help based on our efforts so far. It's not much code and one might have his doubts as to why I have put this in a separate module.
Cost of Consulting?
What are the costs of Drupal consulting, please?
I am building the technology budget for the coming year and want to try to include something for Drupal consulting.
We expect to receive approval to change our church name this Wednesday and so I will need to port over to the new URL and during that time update Drupal, PhP, SQL, etc.
I need someone to assist with doing the transition right and in getting several new features working, roughly in this order of priority:
Linked calendars (master & sub-ministry calendars)
Distributed web area updating by ministry leaders
Review Usability of my SoC Project
Hello,
I am a Summer of Code student working on a project called Embed Widgets (http://drupal.org/project/embed_widgets). It allows widgets to be created from Drupal content such as nodes, blocks, or views. Content must first be added as a "widget source" before it can be embedded in a widget. Widgets can be embedded in various formats such as IFrames and Google Gadgets, with more to come.
My project is going great and is nearly complete, but one concern I have is the user interface. I am looking for ways to improve it.
How do i filter list of users by user role and further by custom profile field
Hi
I am struggling with something which i guess is simple - but could not find a straight solution - hence this post.
This is my scenario (i run a institute):
1. I have a CCK content type in which the faculty enters the observation of each student
2. Each student's (drupal) role is defined by the program he is sighned up for say progA, progB and ProgC
3. Further within each program (or role) each child is in a different class or group - for this i have created a profile field called student_group - say groupX and GroupY
Need some voluntary phone support - any body willing
I run a small education & child dev. organisation in bangalore and its website - www.geniekids.com
Need some help with niggling issues with drupal - specially with cck and views
if you are willing to help me - sms me your number at on 9845045833 or email me at geniekids@gmail.com with your contact number or skype or yahoo or gmail id and we can chat / voip- talk
thanks in advance

Guided Tours for First timers
glad to start of the discussion here. :)
Recently there has been a lot of talk about usability problems. I think the solution to this also lies in a better help system.
Drupal is not a trivial piece of software, that we can make a interface and expect the users to understand everything about it. So lets face the problem.
I don't know what to do
I just created a new drupal group. I got an e-mail saying that my submission was still pending. The e-mail suggested that I broaden the definition of my group but gave no reason why my group was still pending..
It kinda leaves me hanging. I have no way of responding to the suggestion or explaining why I chose the geographical location I chose. And I don't know if that if complying with that suggestion is what is keeping my group form being approved.

Drupalcon 2008 - Tips and Tricks Revealed
Hey all,
This is my first post on groups.drupal.org. I attended Drupalcon last week, and it was my first opportunity to learn about Drupal.
Attached I have shared the first revision summary of lessons I learned over the week at the conference. I created the document to help new Drupalers figure where to go for Drupal resources/site building help. I encourage everyone to check it out, you may find some information on Drupal resources you never knew about.
Help API
Moved to official ideas list at http://drupal.org/node/237899
Staring with some of the things here and some thinking and discussion here's a proposed proposal for a coding project:
Drupal's help system is fairly incomplete. At drupalcon there were many examples where the lack of a help system contributed to its usability woes. This project aims to enhance Drupal's help system through a pluggable, extensible help system API.
