Description

JICNY, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a community for international jews coming to New York City, is porting its website (jicny.com) to drupal using civicrm. Most of the site is ported, however there are several HTML pages that need to be layed out to the roopletheme. Also need a gallery, some theming tweaks, help with backup, security, etc.

Looking for local (NYC area) assistance with:
HTLM coding of 7-10 pages (javascript snippets)
CSS tweaks to theme
comfort with PHP snippets
setup gallery with slide show/lightbox

Hello all!

It's been a year full of surprises with Drupal. Even at every second you glance at this node, it gets more worldwide attention.

However, in our case here in the Philippines... we are slowly becoming a Joomla country.

Here's one evidence:
1) Google Trends for Joomla! in the Philippines
^-- will return a good trend for Joomla.
2) Google Trends for Drupal in the Philippines
^-- will return no result.

I'm not worried whether Drupal is preferred by developers or not. I'm worried because our developers doesn't have much to hear, see, feel and even try about Drupal, unlike how the Joomla community do it here in our country. Because I love Drupal so much, I'm a bit anxious (depressed sometimes) about it.

A list of experiences --that I hope could explain myself:

[A] A client wants a community website developed using a CMS, all he can say at the top of his lungs is the word "Joomla!". Don' worry, he did not faint. I did (trying to convince him about the benefits of Drupal. Alas, I got his consent.).

[B] I spoke in front of some of our top businessmen to pitch the goodness of open source (esp. Drupal & Plone for CMS/Enterprise CMS); after the talk they asked,

Drupal Norge, your user-driven community site for translators, developers, and users of Drupal in Norway, has been adding more and more features to help promote Drupal in Norway as well as features for helping existing norwegian users with their own Drupal installations.

New additions such as the "Drupal support på norsk", to be found at http://www.drupalnorge.no/support, is a forum category transformed into a Q&A feature ala Yahoo Answers where users who gave answers to support- questions are also highlighted in a sort-of Hall of Fame block. "Håndbøker på norsk", to be found at http://www.drupalnorge.no/bok, are 3 user handbooks in norwegian. Drupal Norge's user and node search can also be installed automatically as additional search providers for the Firefox and Internet Explorer. These two browsers automatically discover Drupal Norge's search plug-ins. Btw, shouldn't Drupal Norge be listed on http://drupal.org/support under Other languages?

And, I liked the old theme better than the one currently set at Drupal Norge ;)
