Seeking help installing FFmpeg
When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to install FFmpeg on one's Drupal server, I can find source code but no "Installing FFmpeg For Dummies" documentation. I am not adept at installing from source. I am assuming that someone reading this has done so already and would be able to arrange a time when you could look over my shoulder, hold my hand, etc. while I install FFmpeg so we can use Media Mover.
If you are such a person, please contact me offlist at ranoble at madison dot k12 dot wi dot us
Thanks :)
Drupal Dev Environment Virtual Machine. Install notes and scripts.
Hi,
Imagine being able to teach someone to review/create patches, without having to teach them to setup a LAMP development environment.
Imagine windows and mac users, friends, learning together to do (blank) with a virtual machine development environment.
I created a virtualbox Drupal development image. I wanted a simple platform to collaborate with several others on for a project. I thought others might benefit from the work.
Features include:
- Slim lightweight image (OS+tools are under 1gig)
- LAMP with APC
- Netbeans and Eclipse with debugging
Problem after upgrading to v6.12: Redirected to install page
I just upgraded a client's site to 6.12 and I'm a newbie at all this. So I followed the instructions, backed up the DB (and since it's a new site....there's practically no data) backed up the files and then deleted everything from the server and uploaded 6.12. Hit update.php and did the upgrade. Now i get redirected to the install.php page no matter what I do. Fix?
The Simple Idea.. we want your recipes..
One idea we've had is to offer people "Drupal ready to go"..
ie all the modules, settings configured.. so all you have to do is login and get creating content..
We're also going to use it for all the workshops, etc..
We've added a proposal here - http://groups.drupal.org/node/19479
Take a look, give us your feedback, and if you like the idea, please signin/register then vote..
It really is a case.. of if you don't speak now.. it won't happen.
We'd also love to find people what can supply "recipes".. or that have wishlists.
Progress update - HEAD (0.2) can now handle Drupal 5-7, site cloning and migration of sites between platforms (aka: upgrades)
I pushed through with some of the changes I was making on monday, and implemented a mechanism for provision to conditionally include version specific code. What this means, is that 1 checkout of provision, will now have all the information it needs to manage any supported version of Drupal you throw at it.
A guided tour through the hostmaster installation wizard
I just spent some time documenting the new installation wizard for Aegir, and annotating it on this hostmaster wizard photoset on flickr.

multipul users
ok so we have plenty of people who are able to do a multi site install of Drupal where they are the host and the developer, or don't have others working on the same site. I have a situation where I have multipul users that should not have access to each others files and I don't want to have to create additional ftp accounts.
I am on a LAMP server and want to be able to offer my customers the option to have a 'one install to rule them all' set up, minimizing the time it takes to upgrade the system. Drupal 5's overrides system works great for this.
SoC 2007 proposal - Drupal Automated Staging Kit
Hello all,
Sorry for cross-posting; but I think people working on different aspects of Drupal may have interest in this idea.
I've submitted a SoC 2007 Drupal proposal on automating the whole process of creating a complete Drupal site with a LAMP stack in a self-contained virtual machine image. A formatted PDF version is here:
http://www.abeharry.info/SoC2007_DrupalAST_FullProposal.pdf
Here is the abstract:
The Drupal automated staging toolkit is a proposed set of code libraries, file schemas and parsers, and code generators, for

Let's create a site!!
First - I want to ask why we can't turn on subscriptions here on groups.drupal? We apparently have taxonomy_breadcrumb and a few other "non-core" modules working. We have 64 subscribers, and nobody knows when posts are updated here without coming back each day (which I get few of the 64 do). I think with subscriptions on we'd get a lot more participation.
Ok, enough of that. I would like to know who here is interested in participating in the mock creation of a drupal web site optimized for SEO. What I mean is - let's collectively write a cohesive plan for setting up the most optimized site possible.
