You intend to help to translate the Drupal interface to a language? This is the place! Look into the translator's guide in the Drupal Handbook for detailed documentation, as well as get onto the translations mailing list.
The internationalization group might also be interesting, dealing with content translation support issues in and around Drupal.
Better support for RTL/Right-to-left languages (Arabic, Persian, Hebrew) on drupal.org and groups.drupal.org
Last updated by silverwing on Thu, 2011-07-14 22:31
People in many countries speak in variations of these three languages (Arabic, Persian, Hebrew). groups.drupal.org also currently hosts local groups from these countries and they all have trouble using their local language in order to support local Drupal users.
More info : What languages are read from right to left And also some backgrounds better support for Arabic & Persian languages on drupal.org and groups.drupal.org

I'm stuck with a small problem…
I've built a website for a film festival, in french and english.
Now we have to make the printed brochure. We are using InDesign because it has a built-in XML importer, so with Views and Datasources, I can export all the data I need, but only in one language.
ie:
<title>This is the Fim title</title>
<body>This is the film description</body>I'm trying to find a way to export translations in the same xml file
ie:
Le titre du film
The film title
Read more UI for translators or How to make translator life easier
Hello.
I think the best way for me is to parse body with regexp to translate needed strings.
Strings are stored in DB table.
Any ideas how implement this in drupal?
I have a lot of English nodes on my site. I want to make UI for my translators.
Nodes have a lot of the same strings, and I want give opportunity to my translators to batch translate any string to other language in all nodes bodies. Do you have any idea about it? Or is it another way to make translator life easier?
Thank you...
Go Faster with "Automatic Module Translator" (powered by google)
Found that you have a 1MB module to translate entirely by yourself if you want to use it?
Have 2000 text strings to think of technical terms for and type in one by one?
TRY THIS!
GTranslator automatic translator!. (the full JS is embedded in case you want to change it)
It will fizzle away your translation worries with one press of the translate button, into 30 languages, leaving you all happy and cheerful.
Read moreCCK option fields or Content Taxonomy for effective translation and filtering?
I am working on a website that ultimately will be available in several languages. It is also going to have a lot of complex CCK content types.
A lot of these fields will be CCK options fields, such as checkboxes, radio buttons and so on. Many of these fields will be usable for filtering and creating lists as well. Some of these options will be added to as the site grows.
What I have been thinking about is the best way to implement this to be flexible, efficient and at the same time make it easy to maintain and translations.
As I see it I have two options:
Drupal for Education & E-Learning Review
Technology is changing the way in which we do the normal day to day things, Libraries are changed to Digital Libraries, Educational institutions and corporate are moving to no paper offices. Building up a corporate Intranet System is the need of hour.
Drupal for Education & E-Learning is a great work by Bill Fitzgerals which can be used to build your own intranet system.
The book gives a step by step guide to build up a complete intranet for your college/school and how to effectively use it for better communication

Hi, i have just committed the 6.x release for the galician language, and the packaging script has thrown the error:
"[...] msgid' andmsgstr' entries do not both end with '\n'" (weird problem btw...)
Anyway, I've corrected the error and committed the changes, so my question is... does the script recognize the changes, do I have to re-tag the release, or create a new version...? What do I have to do now for the packager to show the right release?
Also, does the script throw all errors, or it just stops on the first one?
Thanks!

British English translations
I reckon Ubercart needs a British English translation, if only so we stop using string overrides on every single UC site we build for UK clients to stop them talking about 'checks'.
However, I know almost nothing about translation, either of core or contrib, and I have no idea where to start.
Do I need to register on the localization server and create a translation project node on Drupal?
And anyway, will Drupal understand a language code of the form 'en-GB'?

Hi,
l.d.o managed 5xxx projects.
I found that many sentence/Source text have very similar structure.
Estimated around 5000 and maybe a half them only 1/2 words difference.

Hi all! I just wanted to inform all of your that the translation for Drupal into Amharic is under way. We have a lot of work ahead of us and it would so nice to see all of you (Amharic speakers I mean) to contribute.
You can see our status here, http://localize.drupal.org/translate/languages/am, you can join the project and suggest some translations. Hopefully we would have a wiki on how to do that right at the Ethiopian groups by the end of this week.

Projects on d.o -> releases -> localize.d.o -> parse files -> grab t()'s -> translate
Drupal site -> t()'s -> translate -> back to l.d.o?
CVS or no?
Translators aren't CVS tecky
Current workflow doesn't work for contrib, because if we grab the translations when a project is packaged, it's technically too late.

Hello everybody,
I use the i18n module for localization.

But , After i click on language from block and click on that menu then i get the translated page.

Separate translations folders for sub-modules?
Hi,
We have a discussion going on at http://drupal.org/node/446360 on whether it is required/better/advisable... to have separate translations folders for each sub-module of a module (each with their own pot/po files).
