PICKUP SOCCER NYC / PSNYC is a co-ed recreational community soccer organization holding open soccer games year-round multiple days a week at various playing fields all across NYC. The group is open to all skill levels. Our membership is diverse and composed of a broad base of international (and American) players of all ages (players must be at least 18 years of age), backgrounds and nationalities, and from beginner to ex-pro. The organization was founded on the premise of fair and equal play where all people, regardless of playing ability, could come together and play the sport without the pressure or divisiveness of competition. Attendance is optional and, once signed up, members can attend as many or few games as desired. Players show up to games at-will, without a proscribed set of teammates and games typically go on for several hours at a time. A great many members of this group are die-hard avid soccer lovers & fans, live eat and breathe soccer... regardless ALL come together around the common love of the sport no matter the skill level & play together for fun. The organization has an extremely international composition/base of players, a cult mix outcropped against a hybrid of eclectic, multi-cultural, worldwide convergence of playing styles. PSNYC is a meeting ground for all of these individuals.
PSNYC has a Youth Outreach & Coaching Division that holds skills clinics, after-school clinics, and several other special projects each year for inner-city NYC youth, which many of our players volunteer for. It is a fun program for local area youth, designed to build positive interaction, teamwork and friendship. Our outreach program is partnered with several organizations including the New York Red Bulls and the United States Soccer Foundation, enhanced by the support and generous donations of several local sponsors.
