I am an entrepreneur and Drupal Developer with a focus on emerging technologies and open source software. For the past three years I have been an active member in LA Drupal. I organized the Pasadena Drupal meetups, and currently co-organize the Downtown LA Drupal group.
My professional background is somewhat diverse. As an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa I was employed as a medical research assistant for the university’s Neurology department. Upon graduation with a Bachelors degree in Finance, I relocated to Pasadena, California to pursue a portfolio management position with the hedge fund, Caelum Capital Advisors. Later, in 2010, I played cupid and introduced my entrepreneurial side to my developer side. It was love at first sight. I diverged career paths and dove head first into the realm of online startups.
Most recently I co-founded the company It’s a Small Planet. A social commerce site that was once created in D6 but recreated in D7. LA Drupal presented me with opportunities to learn from a wide variety of uniquely talented people in the LA area. This gave me the ability to hone in on the necessary skill sets needed to launch a scalable, deployable and marketable product. These skill sets include Drupal API, system administration, version control, deployment strategies, and core programming fundamentals.
