Welcome to the Developers Group for the Willamette Valley and Western Oregon

This groups mission is to create and/or bring together a local community of drupal developers. Monthly meetings are in the process of being formulated. Ideas are welcome.
Last Tuesday Drupal Meetup
Hello all,
We skipped last month, but I'd like to revive/continue our "Last Tuesday" informal Drupal discussion gathering. Several of us were at the Portland NW Drupal Summit and I'd like to hear of others' favorite presentations.
Anyone else interested?
the details:
Tomorrow night (Tuesday 10/25) at 6 pm
Sam Bond's Garage (407 Blair Street, Eugene)
Web Site update | SilverLeaf Electronics
We have an old Drupal site that needs updating.
- Finish linux / apache installation on new server, including firewall and other security.
- Install and configure current Drupal modules.
- Migrate existing Drupal data
The current site can be seen at www.silverleafelectronics.com. In addition to the public site we have several sites used for managing tech support.
There may be additional work, as we are looking at implementing some additional tech-support features, and maybe even a retail store.
The next local Drupal Meetup - interest?
Hey everyone, I enjoyed the last 2 meetups and it would be nice to keep some momentum going, so I am going to tentatively propose that we do a meeting next week, Friday the 21st, possibly sometime in the evening, somewhere local in Eugene. Supporting local businesses that have open environments and "open source" like mentalities is great. If anyone went to the PNW Drupal Summit I'd be interested in learning about what they learned, etc. So, express your interest, and we can make something happen - this can be a real big one, or just a micro-meetup, whatever works best.
Seeking Volunteers! / Any plans to meet this month?
Is anyone interested in volunteering with a Eugene-based environmental non-profit? The volunteer opportunity is posted below.
Also, are there any plans for the group to meet up in the near future?

Sarah,
Thank you for forwarding this on to the Drupal community
Dear Portland Drupal community,
Read moreI need nerdy friends!
I'm getting really tired of not having some social interaction with fellow Drupal themers/developers! Trying to explain how excited I am about finding a new, amazing module is wasted on my friends. I had a buddy that helped me get started with Drupal, but he moved away. I can't tell you how awesome it was to have a local friend to bounce ideas off and share new designs with. I was really excited to come to a local meetup, but now I can't find any info on an upcoming one.

Dear group, I am working on a drupal-based project and seeking to know what local expertise might be available for hire to help with our site development. The site we are working on is for a large natural history collection -- providing users and museum management the capacity to access/interact with records about the objects in the museum.

I am sorry if this is the wrong place, or the wrong way of asking, but I am looking for some assistance in getting some work going for me up in Eugene. Open to consulting/sub-contracting and possibly a part time/full time position if it felt right and worked out. I have 6 years CRM background, and 2 years experience with Drupal that I would be more than happy to share with anyone looking for some Drupal help. Not a developer/programmer, but highly adaptable and an expert trainer.

OpenSourcery just had to pass on a really cool Drupal Commerce project for Hunter Boots. I've got a personal relationship with the contracting firm and I'd like to see them in good hands. They're looking for two candidates:
1) A Drupal themer (graphic design chops less important than CSS + JQuery)
2) A backend Drupal developer with experience consuming web services
looking for one time ubercart instruction
I'm looking to hand over one of my clients to someone for training with how to use her Ubercart store. She would only need a few hours of training and in-person would be great, or over the phone would also work. She has a new Ubercart store I have set up and configured for her, she just needs someone to walk her through how to complete orders and use the system.
I won't be the middleman here, just turn her over straight to you and you would bill her directly for your time.
Location: Eugene, Oregon
thanks!

Shipping quotes with UPS and package dimensions
I am wondering about the setting for products in Ubercart, in the edit tab, if I scroll down there is a place to add the product's packaged dimensions. The Ubercart book I have says to put in "the length, height, and width" of the product . So do I enter the dimensions of the product itself or the box it is to be shipped in? Sorry, but it doesn't seem crystal clear to me (and I'm kinda a newbie here)
thanks for any help.

Need some help configuring Drupal Ubercart
I am hoping to find someone local who could help me configure Drupal Ubercart for a client's site. I haven't done Ubercart before although I have done many Drupal sites. I can pay for the help of a qualified person. I have bought a book and have the site mostly configured but I need someone to help me with a few problems I'm having with implementation. If you have Ubercart experience please contact me and let me know how much you would charge. Thanks for the consideration.
