There is now a thriving Drupal community in Bristol.
Freelancers and developers from the many Drupal shops are regularly meeting up and sharing Drupal knowledge and experiences.
We're now meeting once a month, on the third Wednesday of the month.

If you haven't come along to one of the meetups yet, or haven't come along in a while please do - the more the merrier.

Official DrupalCamp Bristol Committee
After a number of monthly meetings we now have an official DrupalCamp Bristol Committee.
We’ve been very busy with all the details and we aim to have an official announcement out within the next few weeks surrounding the actual event, but I wanted to take this chance to announce the official committee and to make everyone aware that the committee is now closed. This decision has been made to provide an appropriate structure and enforce decision making procedures where required. New members can now only be invited to join the committee if one of the existing members withdraws.

Usual Drupal social at the Llandoger for beers and Drupal/tech discussions, all are welcome.
Open to suggestions for a couple of topics for discussion so ideas are most welcome.
DRUPALCAMP BRISTOL
Happening next year would be good to have a proper catch up from the committee members working on this, get some things firmed up and see what the rest of us can do to help.

I have to devote more time to work, personal projects and family for a few months so I won't be able to post events or meetups for a while.
I will still be monitoring the drupalbristol account, send messages to this if you want anything to be promoted on there
Anybody is allowed to post events etc. :)

We have no organised meal but expect we will be grazing off of suitable local food venues later.
Early start in Llandogger Trow, moving on a little later as desired.
Comments etc. welcome below.
Communication channels: initially via twitter @drupalbristol for stragglers to catch up but expect we will come up with one or more others ways to let latecomers know when and where we are.

Probably far too late to organise anything for Christmas.
Putting this up in case anybody wants to step forward an organise a Christmas social, even if just agreeing on somewhere to meet and have a few drinks and casual food with out booking a formal meal.
I have too many commitments to organise anything formal.
If nothing pops up here I will set up a social as usual for 17th Dec, I doubt I will interested in much Drupal talk by then it has been a long year (about 420 days I think).. Drink, food, good-natured complaining and making fun of each other should be the agenda.

A few things for Discussion
DRUPAGEDDON
War stories, strategies.
What about all those unmaintained sites lurking around, should the Drupal community stump up a bit of free time?
Strategies for dealing with sites we come across that may be compromised, all very well moaning about best practices, backups etc. but being realistic lots of people have Drupal sites they never really needed.

Drupal Camp Bristol will take a lot of organising and require help and contribution at many different levels.
It has just kicked of here: https://groups.drupal.org/node/446078 and here: https://trello.com/b/QBuupC0W/general# big thanks to all those who are already starting to help and to those who already started the investigation over the last few weeks.

We are hoping to start up the discussion around a Drupal Camp for Bristol and the West at the next social this Wednesday.
This post is just a holding place for initial subsequent comments, links, etc. I will do my best to take some notes from the meetup and post them here.
I guess rough planned timings, possible venues etc. will be the first thoughts, it looks like some thought has already started on this :)

Regular meetup at the Llandoger for beers and Drupal/tech discussions.
After some Twitter and previous discussion there appears to be appetite for some type of Drupal Camp for Bristol and the SouthWest.
Hoping we can get enough interested parties on the night to start investigating.

In case anybody has missed the tweets, poll etc. We are targeting the third Wednesday of the month for meetups from now on.
The main reason was to stop clashes with Devops Cardiff and PHPsw meetups.
There was a poll that ran for two weeks to confirm and we had three votes, two of which were me and someone I was in the office with at the time, it wasn't on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying "Beware of The Leopard" so if you don't like the new dates, you had your chance ;P

August meetup is a social but please bring any 'show and tells' or discussion points. Let people know what you have in mind. Or if you are coming and want some help or advice with something let people know.
I can't make this one unfortunately.
This is probably the last "first Wednesday of month" meetup, we are proposing going to third Wednesday of the month, which would start in September.

We have consistent good attendance for organised talks nights, socials can be a bit sporadic though.
It may help if people volunteer 'show and tells' or something similar, just offer to show or explain something perhaps backed up by a blog-post (whether you wrote it or not). Links and other details can be posted as comments on the event posts.
