Drupal in Higher Education

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Welcome

Connecting folks working with issues and challenges that are unique to Drupal in post-secondary academic environments.

History

This group has been founded as a result of DrupalCon San Francisco 2010, when it became obvious that there was a need for a place to extend the fruitful higher education-focused discussions that began there.

Top Universities for Solid Drupal hosting?

Do you know any universities that are doing a good job at hosting Drupal sites well, either in-house or with off-campus hosting/PaaS providers?

We are looking for examples of universities doing a great job at hosting numerous Drupal sites for campus units. Ideally, we want to find case studies of universities that provide support for units to easily deploy, launch and maintain Drupal and/or WordPress sites. It's fine if universities are doing this on-campus with their own staff or off-campus providers. We want to find top examples of each that are working best.

College catalog in Drupal?

We are looking for a new online catalog solution, perhaps one that will not require an API to integrate with our D7 web site.

Has anyone created their catalog or bulletin in Drupal?

If so,

  • How did it go?
  • Can you provide a link to your catalog?
  • Did you do it in-house or have outside help?
  • Were there any modules that were a particular help?
  • Any Drupal development companies you want to mention?

Thanks for any feedback or suggestions...

Managing Content Access in Higher Education

Does anyone have any recommendations on content access/permissions implementation they can share?

I'm a (relatively new) Drupal developer at private university that's nearing the end of an almost-two-year transition from Coldfusion to Drupal 7. We have around 800 faculty/staff and almost 200 of them need (or want) access to edit specific pages or sections on the website.

Drush Recipes format

I looked around for something to do this but couldn't find anything so I started working on a format that will allow for the structured packaging of a series of drush calls. These digestible calls can be chained together or reference each other to form a type of recipe much like chef does; just specific to drush.

Higher Ed Summit @ NYC Camp

I'm a little late in getting this out there, but felt like it still made sense to post NYC Camp will be hosting their annual Higher Education Summit on April 11th.

More details can be found at:
