UCLA Office of Information Technology is seeking a Drupal Web Developer. Our team works primarily in Drupal and specializes in web accessibility.


Build custom Drupal-based websites and applications. Build custom themes for Drupal using our responsive design framework (WebBlocks). Translate designer comps to code. Customize templates. Create custom content types. Create views. Evaluate and implement contributed modules. Build custom modules for Drupal as needed. Test websites across desktop and mobile browsers. Maintain code in github.com based repositories. Outline workflows, user personas, wireframes, project requirements. Write documentation. Train content editors. Troubleshoot problems and find solutions. Maintain existing sites. Upgrade Drupal 6 sites to Drupal 7 (and someday to Drupal 8). Evaluate accessibility and implement sites meeting accessibility standards.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Familiarity with Drupal
  • Knowledge of HTML 5 (demonstrated proficiency in hand coding)
  • Understanding of the semantic meanings of HTML elements
  • Proficiency in PHP
  • Familiarity with MySQL
  • Knowledge of relational database architecture
  • Familiarity with the concepts of web accessibility (If you don't know them, we will train you.)
  • Understanding of security with regard to websites
  • Familiarity with cross browser compatibility
  • Familiarity with Git and Github
  • Familiarity with working in Linux on the command line
  • Familiarity with Apache
  • Familiarity with JSON and XML
  • Proficiency in CSS and SASS
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX
  • Ability to create custom themes for Drupal
  • Ability to translate graphic compositions/mockups to code
  • Ability to create / modify templates
  • Familiarity with responsive web design
  • Ability to configure Drupal core and common contributed modules
  • Ability to create custom content types in Drupal
  • Ability to creating views in Drupal
  • Familiarity with user roles and permissions in Drupal
  • Ability to use drupal.org's issue queues to troubleshoot problems and find solutions
  • Ability to evaluate, recommend, implement, and test contributed modules for Drupal
  • Ability to override Drupal functions via the Drupal API (using hooks / best practices)
  • Ability to create custom modules for Drupal
  • Familiarity with outlining project requirements based on client input
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Desire to learn new technologies
