North Bethesda consulting firm seeks a motivated individual to work with a growing, agile team to create compelling and cutting-edge Web sites and Web applications for government clients. The Senior Software Developer—Drupal will contribute to all phases of the Web development life cycle but will primarily focus on site building and custom module development for Drupal Web content management system projects.

Job responsibilities include turning wireframes and user interface mock-ups into fully functional Drupal Web pages; Drupal site building with existing core and contributed modules; custom Drupal module development in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.; close collaboration with the client and other team members working on design, user experience, theming, system administration, etc.; maintaining, upgrading, and debugging existing Drupal installations; and assisting in planning, estimating, and refinement of project requirements.

BS in computer science or similar program. Minimum 2 years of Drupal project experience (be prepared to provide samples or links to past projects). Proficient in Drupal back-end development, including custom module development, key contributed modules and the core API, Fields, Views, etc. Proficient in PHP within a GNU/Linux, Apache, and MySQL environment, ideally object-oriented PHP. Proficient in MySQL; skilled in the use of tools like PHP, MyAdmin, and MySQL CLI. Proficient in JavaScript and familiar with AJAX and JQuery. Proficient in HTML and CSS (HTML 5 and CSS 3 preferred). Experience with theming Drupal (Zen, Omega, AdaptiveTheme, Views, templates, etc.). Ability to work as part of a team, understanding problems from other team members’ perspectives, and go above and beyond the job description to work toward a broader team goal. Ability to work independently, willingness to learn, and excellent problem-solving skills. Candidate must be self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced work environment to meet deadlines and new challenges. Ability to communicate—both written and orally—and work well with others. Ability to deliver on time and on budget.

Experience with Drupal distributions (Drupal Commons and Drupal Commerce especially). Experience building responsive/mobile Web sites. Involvement in, and contributions to, the Drupal community. Familiarity with revision control systems like Git. Experience with performance tuning of high-traffic sites. Server administration experience.
