Picture of mobile phoneWe're pleased to announce Drupal Everywhere: Making Mobile Websites with Drupal, a one-day conference on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Thanks to our sponsors, this event is free and open to the public. Drupal Everywhere is being sponsored by Exaltation of Larks, the Spring Arts Tower and individual members of the LA Drupal community.

The first part of the training, which is an overview of basic theory of building mobile-accessible websites, is followed by a practical, hands-on component that steps through the practice of making mobile websites with the popular Drupal framework. The practical component will require basic PHP, CSS and Drupal knowledge.

What to bring

Bring your laptop, an open mind and, if possible, power strips. There will be wireless Internet provided. If you have special needs, please contact the LA Drupal managers in advance of the event.

No RSVP is required, but to have important details sent to you before (and possibly during) the event, sign up by logging in and clicking the Sign up button below.

You can also follow @ladrupal on Twitter for updates.

How to help

There are costs involved in running this event, from organizing food to printing schedules, and additional sponsorships are immensely appreciated and all contributions go directly towards funding conference operation costs. Any funds not used for the camp will donated to the the LA Drupal Association for other events and infrastructure, promotion and distribution needs. Thank you!

bmateus's picture

Hi guys, I'm sure it will be a great event.

I would love to be there, but I live over the Atlantic.
Is there any chance you guys can record it in video, and post it afterwards? You would reach so much more audience.

Thanks for showing your

Time for event and wrong link in reminders

stevenator's picture

Hi Drupal LA!

There is no time posted for this event, so I am just giving a heads up for one of the organizers to make that update...ahem, Demo-stephano.

Also the event sreminders went out in the last 24 hours and they are linking to the wrong node:

You are signed up for the Drupal Everywhere: Making Mobile Websites with Drupal event, which is scheduled for tomorrow. Please check the event announcement at http://groups.drupal.org/node/97769 often as there may have been important details posted there since you last looked.

Dio you still need my devices???

Thanks and looking forward to it!
Steve

The event is between 10am and 4pm (it's in the very top of the event announcement at http://groups.drupal.org/node/101074 )

Thanks for pointing out the wrong URL in the automatic reminder! I just sent out another message with the correct URL.

By all means, please do bring your wireless routers!

How did I ever get to these events on time???

stevenator's picture

Must have been a bleary eyed morning for me if the time was there and I didn't see it. In addition to your description of where you may have been so blunt to have said...look for the bolded words "START"...:)

Thanks see you tomorrow with Wifi inhand! I'll come early to help.

Hi everyone,

There are a few updates about tomorrow's Drupal Everywhere event in Downtown Los Angeles. First off, the last message that went out had the wrong URL (sorry about that!) and the correct URL for the event announcement and any last-minute details is http://groups.drupal.org/node/101074

Secondly, the caterer that we arranged for the event has fallen through and we are unable to offer lunch to our attendees tomorrow. Drupal Everywhere is a free event and we're unable to take our caterer up on their offer for boxed lunches (which we'd need to pay for in advance). Fortunately, we'll be in Downtown Los Angeles and there are plenty of places where we can go.

Finally, in addition to the things you think you need (extension strips, any necessary medication, etc.), be sure to have elegant evening wear for the Drupal After Dark at the afterparty at the Crocker Club: http://www.crockerclub.com

See you tomorrow!

Responsive Web Design

Here are some examples of the Responsive Web Design®™® business we were talking about.

First, the link to the article that started really getting people excited about it:
http://www.alistapart.com/articles/responsive-web-design/

And here are a couple live sites that illustrate the concepts in real life. Visit these in a regular browser and change your window size all around, in a mobile browser, whatever you want, and look at what happens with the images (background images too!), type, layout, and so on.

http://ethanmarcotte.com/ (this is the author of the article)

And look for this book in spring 2011.
