Another Drupal meetup in Old Town Pasadena. The meetup will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010 from 7-9pm. Everyone is invited. Please bring laptops and chargers if you would like to follow along. There will be time for discussion and job announcements.

Google Map Please RSVP by signing up below so we know how many to accommodate. Depending on the turn out we may need people to bring chairs. If you can't attend this month's meetup but would like to come to one in the future, we will be hosting meetups on the first Monday of each month.

Address: 1 S Fair Oaks Ave., Suite 202, Pasadena, CA 91105 (this has changed from the previous 201)

Parking: There is free parking after 8pm if you can find a spot on the street. There is also a parking garage across the street. First hour and a half is free and $2/hour after that.

We realize that traffic for people on the Westside is less than ideal so we are working on setting up a live broadcast for this presentation. If there are any companies that would be willing to let us use their WebEx or GoTo Webinar account that would be extremely helpful! There will be a screencast for this presentation, however, we encourage all that can attend to attend.

As the other meetups say- "Attending the LA Drupal meetups is one of the best ways to meet and talk with other Drupaleros and we encourage you to attend as many meetings as you can..."

Join us afterward for a Drupal After Dark at Intelligentsia for some drinks, networking opportunities and continued discussion.

Does anyone have any presentation suggestions for this meetup?

Installation Profiles

Techivist's picture

What about doing an overview of what Drupal installation profiles are out there & what types of solutions they provide or how they've been used? Aegir & the like are well known but there's many that don't get discussed much around these parts. Managing News, COD (Conference organizing) & Drupal Commons are a few that come to mind.

Hoping to make it out but in case I can't sure would be nice to have it recorded or streamed live. Otherwise, we could touch on it at the downtown LA meetup the following week.

Thoughts?

Hey, folks something's come

Hey, folks something's come up and I won't be able to make it to the meetup tonight. I hope to make it to the next one.

Miguel's idea sounds like a great one to me. I think a lot of people have heard of OpenAtrium, OpenScholar, etc. but haven't seen them much less installed them. Take a look at Dries' post (from 2006!) about how installation profiles are a great thing for Drupal.

Most of the installation profiles available today are examples of best practices and they can be a tremendous resource. Managing News is a good example. It's a highly specific web application that we're not actually using but we learned a lot from it when we set up the feeds for ladrupal.org.

Does anyone feel comfortable

Does anyone feel comfortable presenting on this topic? It appears that we are going to have a small turnout tonight so a Q&A/long discussion session might be more appropriate.
