St. Louis Group needs a new organizer.

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Hello everyone,

I'm no longer living in St. Louis, nor am I working with Drupal... so, is there anyone interested in being the group organizer?

Send me a message expressing your interest.

Thanks.

I would be interested in

I would be interested in sharing the organizer role. I can't make every meetup, but I can make many, and help arrange meeting venues.

Continued Availability of the Artists' Guild

jpro's picture

Well, we have pretty much had a stable meeting place at the Artists' Guild for the better part of a year now. As long as the group wants to meet there, I expect that I will be able to continue to arrange a meeting room at the Guild (near Clayton Rd. and Big Bend) for the foreseeable future. It has been nice to have a stable, reliable location for the meetings, but if we have agreeable alternate locations such as the Arch Reactor from time to time, I'm all for that, too. (Sorry I couldn't make that meeting, and glad it was elsewhere that particular time.)

If anyone does not like the Guild as a meeting place, I haven't heard that feedback, but I'm all ears.

The Guild is a central location for the area as a whole, but I don't know if the location might be keeping some from coming who otherwise might. I would be interested in any feedback about that.

Thanks Ben; Guild is gold

Thanks, Ben, for offering to help organize.

The Guild has seemed good to me. Fairly centrally located, close to 40, right sized room so far, heat ;-) , good wifi and screen.

Guild works

I agree the Guild works. Good central location.

As for this OG, I'll be happy to help out with it.

I've looked all over, I can figure it out...

I can't figure out how to assign group ownership... if I try to leave it says I can't leave because I'm the owner, but I can assign group ownership to someone else... and then leave.

Well... I've look everywhere I can think of... I don't know how to do it.

Moderator?

jpro's picture

I don't know Organic Groups, and that is one reason I am shying away from actually taking that role on. (Mark would be a great choice, he knows Drupal much more thoroughly than I, and has been a regular at our meetings; go Mark!)

But other groups systems I do use require you to set an individual as a moderator before you can promote that individual to owner. Just wondering if that might be how OG works. ? Don't know...

Thanks for the kind words,

Thanks for the kind words, Jean. You left out that I'd missed the last few meetings though :)
My schedule's been over the top lately. I promise to make this month's meeting though.

In fact, if you'd like I could take a few minutes to give an overview of my latest project. I'm working on a module to process registrations for cycling races. It's my first custom module built from the ground up on Drupal 7. It doesn't rely on any contrib modules, so it's lean and fast. You can get a look at the beta here: http://tigerlillymedia.com/register
Username and password: Demo
The access code is Genevieve.

Don't worry, you won't be able to go all the way through and actually spend money. We're in test mode.

BTW, if you do go there and test it out and break something please let me know. It's still work in process.

Next meeting I'd be happy to show y'all how it works.

Mark

I googled this bit of info

Straightened out?

Did this Group Organizer issue ever get worked out?

Also, looking at some other groups, I see that they can have multiple organizers. So you should be able to assign another organizer before you leave the group. "Should" being the operative word, of course.

Sending a message to the Admins

OddSim's picture

I contacted djw2 shortly after this thread was started and volunteered to help out with this group's management and organization. Since there hasn't been any recent progress on this front, I will bring the matter to the attention of the groups.drupal.org maintainers.

Per the guidelines posted at http://groups.drupal.org/node/39596, I have started a thread requesting the addition on new organizers. The request is here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/145554

Completed
