Meetups in Bangkok?

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

I'll be flying to DrupalCon from Melbourne to LA via Bangkok - long story. I have a full day stop over in each direction. I'd like to meet some of the local Drupal community.

I'll be in BKK from around 0430 until mid - late afternoon (my flight leaves at 1930) on Friday 4 March 2011. I'm planning to spend some time in the lounge in the morning getting breakfast and catching up on some work, then be in town from early morning.

On my way home I'll be there from 0600 until late evening (my flight is just after midnight) on 22 March 2011. Although I'll probably be a bit jet lagged, I'm happy to meet people during the day or even arrange something in the evening if people are into that.

I'm open to all suggestions. Let me know what you think.

Glad to see a get together on this. Have been doing a lot of drupal devel over the last year, but haven't been in touch with the local community. Will be good to see people here again and update on what people are up to.

Time?

skwashd's picture

Sorry for not responding, things have been a bit chaotic here.

The venue looks good and public transport is perfect.

What time would you want to meet? I would like to be back at the airport by 18:00, which I think would mean leaving the city around 17:30. How does that fit with people's commitments?

Still happening?

skwashd's picture

I fly out in about 24 hours and will be in BKK in around 36 hours. Do people still want to meet up?

looks like some people are now meeting privately at the same time, so I'm a bit confused now. who is still planning to come to the public meetup?

What What What?

expertalmost's picture

WOW! I get it now...why trying grasp the essentials of Drupal is so dauntingly difficult. It is like try to grasp the essentials of this thread. hahaha Many different ants going in many different directions with nothing more than a wiff of occasionally converging pheromone trails. Welcome to crowdsourcing. How I miss the ordered and easy to learn world of assembler/C/C++.

I read airport. I read Bug and Bee. I read "place mentioned." I read 7pm. I read 11, 3, 4, 5:30, this friday weeks ago, friday 18, friday 4th.

Essentials: WHO is meeting WHERE and WHAT time and WHY? Clearly stated with command and intent, in one easy-to-read post.

Otherwise I will see someone I do not know at the bug-n-bee-airport-usual-place-place-mentioned between 11 and 5:30 from some distant past friday to today hahahaha

Where is the queen ant when you need her?
Thank you for any clarity someone might offer :-)

Cordially,
expertalmost
but never at this rate ;-)

I'm easy

skwashd's picture

I don't really care, I just want a clear plan. I thought my initial post was pretty clear, subsequent posts had suggestions, but nothing firm and no times as far as I could see.

I have committed to meeting the open dream crew at their office as 11, but I can reschedule that for after the meetup if that works for other people.

I'll leave people to work something out in the next 45mins or so, then I'm heading to the station to catch a train to the city.

I'm heading to Bug and Bee

skwashd's picture

I will go to bug and bee and if I can't find people I'll head over the to the open dream offices. I'd appreciate it if someone could txt +61 410 47 42 55 which exit I should use at the MRT station - where to meet someone there.

I'll be at the bug and bee around 11. Will ask loudly for a drupal meet, please keep your ears peeled. Bara.munchies, is that your real hair, because if so I think I will be able to recognise you :)
