Federated Social Web Drupal task force

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Hi all,

some time ago we started talking at ostatus mailing list about the implementation in Drupal 1. As Walkah suggested, we need an implementation task force to get Ostatus and Federated Social Web full working on Drupal.

I think that we should begin organizing who are avaiable to work in it and analize and distribute the tasks.

what do you think about? let's go?

Sounds good. Shall we start

Sounds good.

Shall we start by being clear of our objectives and breaking down what is done and what needs to be done?

I think our objective could be something like rolling a distribution of Drupal that will allow a site to do federation
with other instances of this distribution and building something for demonstration purposes ..

I totaly agree with you Paul.

Our objective? I propouse begin developing the modules needed to run Ostatus (http://www.ostatus.org), so it is: activitystreams, salomon, webfinger, PubSubHubbub; and building something for demonstration.

What is done? I have found some things done:

If anyone knows more work done, please tell us!

Maybe the more dificult step is to define what needs to be done.

Great!

Hi - great to see movement on this. Incredible that so long has gone by but this is how it goes I guess.

As a side note perhaps you already know that there is now a Federated Social Web Working Group - http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/federatedsocialweb/ . I am part of that group - as I am sure others here probably are. In any case will be reporting back here on activities there.

From a personal standpoint I would be very interested to see some movement on the activity side of things - and for that I find something like the
http://drupal.org/project/message as a promising way forward to record activity on the site. I think the activity stream is an immediate win for site owners and an easy way in the federated social web.

Now going back to the main issue of how to get going - perhaps the next step would be to create Wiki pages for each of the components of the OStatus protocol and figure out where things stand in Drupal (i.e. expand on what quiron has done above) and detail steps for work on each of those components.

That sounds like a great way forward. Would anyone like to suggest where on D.o we should create these wiki pages?

We can use this group to

We can use this group to create wiki pages - I have some time cornered of this Friday for "extra-curricular" :-) activities and will get going on this.

elf-pavik has done this wikipage with the state of the art:

http://groups.drupal.org/node/95309

we can work here and then define our roadmap

Thanks for putting together this Wiki page.

This project is going to be a lot of fun once we get going.
