What is the status of Skinr for Drupal 7?

We've all heard great things about Fusion and Skinr. I've been visiting the project pages every few weeks for almost a year now eagerly waiting for a Drupal 7.x release.

http://fusiondrupalthemes.com/faq#t61n150 said we could expect Fusion and Skinr to be ready for Drupal 7 in December 2010. However http://drupal.org/project/skinr says that Skinr 7.x "is not stable, functional, or supported right now... so we strongly advise that it only be used for testing purposes at this point."

It appears that no changes have been made since July.

  • Is Skinr 7.x-2.x still under development?
  • Can anyone explain the status of the current 7.x-2.x-dev version? Does it actually work? Can people use it?
  • When can we expect to see a 7.x-2.x-beta version of Skinr?

We've been busy and have and limited time to finish up the D7 version. Also, help has been far few and far in-between. To answer your questions:

  • Yes, the module is still under development, although slowly unfortunately.
  • The current status is that the module is working and people can use it, but we're not offering full support of it yet as there are still parts that we would like to complete and polish up. The biggest holes are with Panels integration which is currently problematic due to some hooks/patches not being included in Panels that will allow proper integration. If you are using it, we'd appreciate feedback and help in the queue with resolving any issues you run into.
  • There is no current time-line, although it is not far from being ready. We'll do what we can to push it forward and any help would be greatly appreciated.
