Free Drupal Security Training: Introduction to Vulnerabilities and Security Mindset

This free course is offered Friday afternoon from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Signup on the groups.drupal.org event node. Class in the McDonnell Douglas Engineering Auditorium (and directions).

Whether your Drupal site is for a small-business, a government organization, e-commerce, or health-care data, it is always important to maintain your online security. Being vulnerable to defacement, data breech, theft of your resources or loss of customer data can easily ruin the reputation and business of a company.

While Drupal is generally well respected as a secure system, there are mistakes you can make in building your site, choosing modules, and writing a custom theme that can easily introduce vulnerabilities. Understanding how to build secure web sites can make a huge difference not only for the integrity of your sites, but for the confidence of your clients, as well.

There is no better way to tackle the security beast than with the help of Acquia’s experts Greg Knaddison and Ben Jeavons - members of Acquia's Professional Services and Engineering team.

This free training course will cover:

  • How to think like a hacker - and how this is the key to a safe site
  • Using Acquia's Insight site analysis tool to automate security checks
  • Defense against automated attacks
  • What Cross Site Request Forgeries are and how to prevent them
  • Methods to block Cross Site Scripting - the most common and most dangerous problem in Drupal

Keep in mind that this course is held on Friday, July 27th, 2012 - the day before the camp begins. You won’t miss any valuable camp events by signing up for pre-camp training sessions like this one.

To go in depth and cover all there is to know about Drupal security, including vulnerablies like SQL injection and get complete, guided experience, we're offering our full Drupal security training course Monday, August 20th, before DrupalCon Munich.

Prerequisites

This course will be most valuable if you bring your own computer that is already running Drupal 7 AND if you have some experience writing (or at least reading) Drupal module code.
