User group meeting

The next DrupalACT meeting will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, 2nd October 2012. Come along to meet other Drupal people, share your skills and experience, and maybe learn something new!

Presentation
Adam Malone (AMA) will be presenting Integrating Drupal and node.js.

With more focus in the web world being placed on being in 'the now' to interact with visitors and site users alike, there is an increased importance on delivering to the minute content. Traditional methods involving in-frame or page refreshes exhibit the lower common denominator for up to date info.

Efficiency suffers since refreshes occur be there new information or not and if the refresh interval is set too high it could be minutes before that 'breaking news' is relayed. Node.js, an event driven, non-blocking javascript based system offers more appealing alternatives to traditional 'real time' and this presentation will show how.

This is an interactive presentation using the demo website, http://nodejs.adammalone.net so please bring Internet enabled devices on which to participate. So feel free to register an account on http://nodejs.adammalone.net

When: 6pm, Tuesday, 2nd October 2012 (please be on time!)
Where: Australian Medical Association (AMA), 42 Macquarie St Barton, http://g.co/maps/x25fu

Other details
We'll also have time for questions (for the presenter or for the group on any Drupal topic) and the floor is also open for lightning talks, as well. Depending on interest, we'll adjourn to The Realm for drinks afterwards.

Entry to the building is restricted, so please arrive 5 minutes early and wait at the front door. If you are late (or no one is around), please call 0430 365 015 or 0468 392 326 and someone will let you in.
