I want to announce stuff

chellman's picture

The second of my Drupal video training courses is available, and I want to let everyone know in person, give a couple copies away, and give everyone who doesn't get a free one, a discount. Yes? I know there's Build A Module stuff to give away as well, but I'm hoping this is a "the more the merrier" kind of situation.

Chris, if you're up for it, we can do a video training grudge match, or maybe some mud wrestling. I think it'll be good for morale. I'm not sure whose morale, but maybe someone's.

Great news!

Congrats, chellman!

Will there be a G+ hangout tonight?

oseldman's picture

I'm not sure I can make it in person, but would like to tune in remotely to tonight's proceedings, particularly the two presentations. Can someone insure there's a G+ hangout set up and that a link to it is made available?

Thanks

I was just gonna ask the same

I was just gonna ask the same thing, Oliver! haha. Hoping to tune in since the 2 presentations are VERY interesting to me.

This raffle prize is a $499 value, and more information about this intermediate/advanced training can be found at: https://www.larks.la/training/2012/11/16/drupal-development-best-practices

The connection may make it a bit iffy for folks to create the G+ connection here (I'm way in the back today so you wouldn't be able to view it) but I'll be trying to record a screencast sometime this week so its available for viewing.

Wiki page for rescue projects

Great presentations and meetup this month!

BTMash's picture

Ishmael did an awesome job presenting on rescuing Drupal projects (I liked the checklist and thank you for starting the wiki - I already see other posts in there and looks like we will all learn some new things :)).

I messed up my presentation since my update hooks were written incorrectly (instead of hook_update_N, I had hook_N). And it was brought to my attention that I mentioned a lot of things that people may not know anything about (like aegir, nginx, maridb and whatnot). Like I said above, I am planning to do a screencast of this to go in more detail and hopefully, correctly show the failure :) But hopefully, people got the idea on the value that something like Jenkins brings to a team (or even single person) development workflow. The slides are now up at https://speakerdeck.com/btmash/drupal-and-jenkins.

Justin's lightning talk on using Web Inspector to debug mobile safari was something I didn't know about at all and was literally wowed. Great job!

And the lightning talk by Chris about Drupal Site Suite was great - it'll be a great way for all of us to collaborate on building best-of packages for the various projects we all work on.

Drupal Site Suite (Drush Mega-Make files)

Chris Charlton's picture

Thanks, I've been trying to balance putting too much in there but then again it's tiny in filesize and module categories can be branched out into additional make files.

D7 branch of "Drupal Site Suite" make files: https://github.com/ccharlton/Drupal-Site-Suite/tree/7.x

Feel free to submit patches and/or change requests through githubcom; I personally don't plan to start committing to the D8 branch until some undetermined time next year.

I apologize if the volume is not quite loud enough (or if I am rambling) through the video. It was very late (yet I was determined to get this done) but I hope it gets the message across on using a Continuous Integration tool.
