Mitacs is issuing a request for qualifications from individuals or organizations to provide periodic web development services for its Drupal based site.

Mitacs (www.mitacs.ca) supports national innovation by coordinating collaborative industry-university research projects with human capital development at their core. Since 1999, Mitacs has been promoting academic-industrial R&D while supporting the development of future innovation leaders. Mitacs has developed a proactive and successful approach to supporting innovation, both directly through collaborative R&D and indirectly through long-term development of skilled human capital. In particular, Mitacs:

  • Helps companies identify their innovation needs and matches them with academic expertise;
  • Fosters cutting edge research tied to commercial outcomes;
  • Builds international research networks, creating innovation leaders in Canada and abroad; and,
  • Provides professional and entrepreneurship skills training for graduate students, so they have the tools to meet emerging innovation needs.

Details of project:
Mitacs foresees the need to engage qualified web developers with proven experience with Drupal and PHP in general to undertake various web development projects, including its mobile site.

Contractor qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience working with Drupal
  • Excellent knowledge of PHP and (X)HTML, CSS and best programming practices
  • Proven knowledge of Drupal theming and custom Drupal module development
  • Experience with JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, XML, Apache, MySQL
  • Experience with multi-lingual websites
  • Experience enhancing the performance of high-traffic sites
  • Experience with database optimization and content migration
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Experience with Drupal SSO via an LDAP server is an asset
  • Experience with Ubercart module is an asset
  • Experience with building and maintaining community websites is an asset

Facilities and Equipment:
The Contractor will provide his/her own office space, office equipment and any supplies required to complete the project. The Contractor may be required to attend meetings at the Mitacs offices at the University of British Columbia.

The work will be carried out by the Contractor’s principal(s). Sub-contracting may be permitted, with prior approval of Mitacs Inc. The Contractor will be responsible for ensuring all sub-contractors stay on time and on budget.
