I have failed! Quickstart 3.0beta1 is my last planned Quickstart release.

If you're looking for something better or better maintained, check out these great alternatives:

Quickstart 1.0
- (I still use it :-)

Drupal Pro
- Mike Stewart's Unity-based fork of QS 1.0
- More up to date that QS 1.0
- http://drupal.org/project/drupalpro

BitNami Drupal native/virtual/cloud
- Haven't used it
- Closest thing to the QS 3.0 vision
- http://bitnami.org/stack/drupal

Whatcha got?!
- Know some thing better? Let us know!

Quickstart was a fun project, then it wasn't. I clung to it for a year, now I have sad satisfaction in letting it go.

I tried to marshal a team together, but it was a big vision, I didn't spend the time to promote and organize it well enough, and in the end, it was too much to ask from myself and others.

I'd like to thank Travis Carden for his amazing support and help through the whole process. He might have a new project coming up around a drush extension similar to Quickstart. I'm excited to find out!

I'd also like to thank Roman for his hard work and gorgeous theme on the drupalquickstart.org website. He's an awesome designer and a pleasure to work with. Check out his portfolio here:

For the Drupal project, I'm looking for a new maintainer / co-maintainer with a similar vision. If you're interested, contact me personally.

Well, thanks everybody! Quickstart has been a great experience for me, and I hope so for you too. On to other things!

Thank you for all your work. This is not a failure by the way. You have started a great tool used by many people.

Thanks again!

You have NOT failed!

Hey Michael, Quickstart is no way a failure! It's a success! It's awesome! I remember when I was new to linux and drupal, this was the best tool to get me started. And same is true for many people I know.
All the best for all your future endeavours! And when you look back, count Quickstart among your successes!
Cheers.
