10:00 - 10:15 :: Mingle & Settle

10:15 - 11:00 :: Intro CSS PreProcessors SASS/LESS/etc.

11:00 - 12:00 :: Special issues & Networking

I forgot to bring this up last night at the meeting. I have a RoR developer/designer that is going to do a deeper overview of SASS/LESS on Saturday and I wanted to make sure that anyone from this group was invited to if they wanted to learn more...

speaking of sass

The no query fallbacks (in breakpoint actually, I tend to lump it with singularity in terms of a layout "system" in my head) worked beautifully. https://github.com/Team-Sass/breakpoint/wiki/No-Query-Fallbacks

Picked the common "desktopy" breakpoints and added classes ala $use-grid: 695px, 'no-query' '.no-mediaqueries';

then built out a custom modernizr with the css-mediaqueries core detect http://modernizr.com/download/ and boom! instant desktop layout settings for IE8. :)

respond.js only accepts px media queries (which screws over everyone else that changes their font size), and other polyfill mq solutions are even less performant. granted IE8 doesn't have any responsive behaviour, but if people have their IE8 browsers at funky widths that's a cost I think the world can live with. I'm using the html5 shiv in modernizr + selectvizr as is, no need to make their experience even slower. ;)
