The Clinton Foundation is currently seeking two Web Developers (Full Stack Front-End and Back-End Developers) that will use database, scripting and programming languages to build, update and maintain standards compliant web applications and sites, and to help maintain a Drupal 7 solution. S/he will be responsible for testing code, custom programming new content and projects, troubleshooting existing code, and contributing ideas and efforts toward internal projects while working as part of a team to find solutions to various technical and digital problems.

The Web Developer is the primary staff member responsible for managing and troubleshooting server maintenance. This includes serving as the primary technical liason to the web hosting company and other web technology vendors. Responsibility of Foundation website management also includes internal usage of web technology/software to aid in non-public facing web based operations, data management, etc. Occasional collaboration with IT in configuration of domains for email services and other in-house software/tools


•Build and maintain Content Management Systems using Windows, Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL

•Help maintain a Drupal 7 solution

•Write code to generate back end web applications, databases and business logic

•Troubleshoot and document scalable, extensible & reusable code

•Research requested new features using up to date technology and best practices for implementation.

•Recommend and implement new functionality that will help Foundation reach digital goals.

•Build accessible, standards compliant and SEO-friendly websites in HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, XML, AJAX and other emerging technologies

•Create interactive forms and web elements using Javascript libraries such as JQUERY, JSON.

•Contribute ideas and efforts towards internal projects and working as part of a team to find solutions to various problems

•Review designs and project requirements for Foundation projects. Proactively assess requests from across the Foundation and provide feedback based on best practices and technical limitations.

•Manage internal and external hosting environments

•Research and develop

•Reliable and scalable hosting environments

•Flexible information architecture and efficient content management systems

•Emerging web technologies and trends. Build pilot programs to demonstrate utility


•Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree or sufficient cumulative applied experience.

•Strong knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Javascript, JQuery, HTML5, CSS3 and XML.

•Solid computer science fundamentals

•Expert level PHP & Drupal skills

•Advanced level custom module development in Drupal 7

•Extensive familiarity with HTML5, XML, CSS, Object Oriented Programming, JavaScript, SQL, Web Service, Varnish, Apache and JSON

•Experience with jQuery and other JavaScript frameworks

•Experience with version control systems, GIT preferred

•ASP.NET, SQL Server and social network API skills are a plus

•Understanding of Web development practices, the software development life cycle, and development in accordance with industry best practices and W3C standards

•Expert level back-end debugging skills

•In-depth knowledge of industry standards and emerging technologies

•Understanding of security best practices

•Expertise in gathering, analyzing, documenting and translating processes into web-based solutions. Ability to independently design and develop comprehensive tools, modules and applications that integrate with multiple systems.

•Ability to contribute to site design, architecture and production.

•Experience with object-oriented programming, the prototype inheritance pattern, and understanding of development libraries.

•Strong analytical and problem solving skills

•Ruby on Rails, mobile app development, experience with GIT, Drush, Jenkins, WordPress, bug tracking systems

Physical and Other Requirements

•Significant computer work, which may require repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.

•Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.) bending, pulling, collating/filing, and occasional lifting, carrying, and/or moving boxes, files, etc., some of which could be heavy or require the use of carts.

•Occasional travel, both domestic and international. This may require walking distances, lifting & carrying luggage and boxes, and prolonged periods of sitting in tight quarters.
