Canadian Discovery Ltd. is a private, Calgary-based company that provides fully-integrated geoscience services to a diverse range of resource sector stakeholders. We are looking for a senior web developer to transition our Digest and CEO products into a Content Management System as part of a broader initiative to upgrade our product content and platform.

Senior Web Developer
We are looking for a web developer familiar with CMS’s such as Drupal or Joomla to lead the development of our new integrated Digest and CEO website. This is a contract position with the possibility of permanent employment. Timelines and salary expectations will be discussed in the interview.

The new CMS website needs to:
• Be easy to maintain and update with new content.
• Load all historical content.
• Be searchable by content and metadata.
• Be optimized for search engines.
• Have social media buttons and RSS feeds.
• Have different levels of access for clients.
• Use our in-house authentication service.
• Be able to support comments or forums in the future.
• Be able to support online purchases in the future.

• Work closely with stakeholders and our publications design team to help design the website.
• Establish timelines for deliverables.
• Lead the development of the new website with assistance from a junior developer.
• Train a junior developer to maintain the website.
• Test and document your work.

Knowledge and Skills
• Experience designing and developing websites similar to the one described above. Please provide examples of your work.
• Experience using CMS’s such as Drupal or Joomla.
• Experience optimizing for search engines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Experience with Silverlight, Team Foundation Server, WCF, SQL Server, DevExpress, GIS, ESRI Suite, C#, Python, Javascript, or similar technologies would be an asset.
• Understanding of database structures and relational frameworks (SQL Server, stored procedures and triggers, schema manipulation).
• Oil and gas industry or geoscience related experience.
Education and Work Experience
• Certificate, diploma or degree in applied technology/information systems, or equivalent work experience.
