Previous attempts at Tuesday were difficult to attend. This is better (at least for me).

You're welcome

There were several people who claimed Tuesdays were difficult for various reasons, so we're gonna try alternating for now. See you tomorrow!

Great meetup

It was very nice to see so many Drupal consultants & business owners tonight! Sorry to hear James is no longer with Lulabot, but this may be an opportunity to start something big on his own.

When James started analyzing secrets behind Lullabot's success and talking about giving back to the community, it reminded me of my search for key factors behind successful Real Estate agents. (I promote my wife's business http://www.JasminaHomes.ca - she is a Realtor in Richmond Hill, Ontario.) If growing a successful business could be simplified to just 3 things, my list would shrink to these 3:

(1) "Getting people who have a specific need or problem to know, like and trust you" and inspiring customers to "stick" to your company. This comes from the book "Duct Tape Marketing – The World’s Most Practical Small Business Marketing Guide" by John Jantsch (http://www.ducttapemarketing.com/blog/).

(2) 6 psychological "weapons of influence that govern our business dealings, our societal involvements and our personal relationships": Reciprocity, Consistency, Social Proof, Liking, Authority and Scarcity. They are defined by Professor of Psychology Robert Cialdini in his book "Influence – The Psychology of Persuasion". My Real Estate Marketing mentor Dean Jackson has an article summarizing this book on one of his website: http://www.moneymakingwebsites.com/academy/cialdini.pdf

(3) "Apply the lessons of franchising to any business" (whether it is a franchise or not) and understand the importance of "working ON your business" rather than IN it. I've learned this from Michael Gerber's book "The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It".

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Nice to meet you all!

Hi everyone! I had a lovely time at my first DUG-TO meetup last night. Great to see so many Drupalites in Toronto! Next time we'll have to get more chairs. :)

I especially appreciated hearing about the Drupal Modules Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/drupal_modules) and Planet Drupal (http://drupal.org/planet). They look like great resources and I was totally unaware of them before.

Lately, I've been checking out the module ratings at http://drupalmodules.com/. Any other secrets to sifting through the tons of modules and zeroing in on the strangely-named yet amazing modules that you might have missed on the first pass?

Well i am using drupal past 3

Sorry I was unable to make this meeting, as I had other matters to attend with. However, it would be nice to see some more examples of work done by other Drupalist in Toronto that attended the meeting for those who missed out on this event.

Keep up the good work guys.
