Michael Stricklen, CTO at Cyrus Innovation and organizer of the newly formed Nodeschool Manchester group is presenting

Get the JavaScript Out of the Browser: An Introduction to Node.js.

The session will include an overview of what Node.js is and how to use it, common pitfalls and traps, as well as how to set up a development environment.

Topics to be covered are:

• Bootstrapping your Node.js development environment

• Playing with the REPL

• Running node scripts from the command line

• Introducing NPM

• Asynchronous Programming

• Handling dependencies, Node’s single-threaded event loop & much more!

Doors open at 6:30 for networking with the main talk starting at 7:00. As always The Farm offers a full menu if you want to order dinner.

Plenty of off-street parking in the Pearl Lot (behind The Farm)!
