Missed Meeting

lucashodge's picture

It was a pity I was in Queensland when this was on, seeing I suggested the venue. Anyhow, are their any plans for another meeting in the near future?

no dates but I'm guessing

no dates but I'm guessing it's going to be 1/2 price margueritas at Nachos Cantina. ;-)

Anybody interested in progressing a second meeting?

Suggestions: 20 July or 22 July, 2 or 3pm, at Joe's Garage? Is that too soon?

Hi, Actually I was about to

gordon's picture

Hi,

Actually I was about to start organising the next meeting for about the end of the month.

I have actually been offered space where we can have a meetup and have full internet access, and an expresso machine in Mt Waverley.

I hope to start organising it in the next week or so.

Thanks,

That suits me

JDSaward's picture

Mt Waverly is fine with me; second last weekend of the month is better than the last weekend. Weekdays are fine with me also.

Thanks for your organising work. Let me know if you want any help in it.

Joe's Garage

One excellent side-benefit of the First Melbourne drupalMeet was discovering Joe's Garage cafe. It's a really lovely place to sit with a drink or a meal and perhaps a laptop. I ate there this evening; and it is now amongst my favorite cafes.

I'm really open to meeting up there with any Drupal-folk who happen to find themself in central Melbourne with an hour or two to spare. I sometimes can get to Joe's at short notice, even a few hours. Better a day or two of course... Willing to meet and chat about anything to do with Drupal; whether it be ideas or projects further advanced. As they say, two heads are better than one.

It's an open on-going invitation.

The real downside that day

The real downside that day was the noise level of the cafe. That is going to depend on the time of day/week of course.

City Meeting Place

lucashodge's picture

Hi all,

After suggesting Joe's Garage I have another venue to suggest.

I have worked and volunteered for a community organisation - The Sustainable Living Foundation for the last two years now. We have a large office space with WIFI at Level2 140 Bourke St. This space is open plan and is utilised by many focus groups.

Actually I have been redeveloping the current site (www.slf.org.au) with drupal for about a year now and it is getting close to a public release . I chose drupal to develop the new site both from a functionality point of view but also from a social sustainability point of view (community and open-source developed).

Luke

does slf to the sustainable living festival?

sime's picture

Hi Luke

That sounds really great, especially as there are a few people hanging around the forum whose interest lies in non-profit.

yes slf did the festival.

sime's picture

yes slf did the festival. just looked on the website.

For interests sake,
I designed and am supporting a website for a group called Pedal Australia (pedalaustralia.org.au) who attended the Sustainable Living Festival - although it's not a drupal site (unfortunately).

Festival Site

lucashodge's picture

Yeah I developed all the foundations sites including the festival about two years ago. But as the foundation has grown the requirements of the sites has outgrown the custom designed sites that have minimal content management systems.

The plans for a relaunched drupal multi-site are large and I look forward to sharing my ideas and getting feedback and input from other experienced drupal people. I look forward to the upcoming meeting.

This sounds great. Hopefully

This sounds great.

Hopefully we could get do some demo's and answer some questions a little bit easier from what we did last time.

I have contacted you via Email to finalise some of the details.

One thing I would not mind doing is to demo the location module and Google maps with Drupal for Australia.

I'm looking for a static page to link to that has the details on it, and haven't found one so far....

Yes, the wifi stopped

gordon's picture

Yes, the wifi stopped working at the rail road tavern and then Simon got his office in the city so we went to their.

They are quite good, and we seem to be getting more people which is good. Next month I hope we will do more with themeing.
