Q&A Ideas

After the core conversation at DrupalCon I came up with a couple of ideas that would be helpful for supporter givers (and support receivers).

  • Can we please, please, please, please, please, please use dopl or something similar in Q&A posts? It's 2011 and I still have to type out link elements in HTML.
  • Q&A should also direct people to documentation pages or better yet use Apache Solr to produce recommended documentation pages for a particular Question.

The What and Why

Work is being done now to overhaul Drupal.org's support infrastructure. See Susan's blog post for a more detailed explanation of the issues, and proposed solution - http://binaryredneck.net/node/175 . Some summary is below.

About the Drupal Support Team

The Drupal Support Team was created at DrupalCon Chicago 2011 to help improve the support experience for support-givers and those seeking help.

This group is NOT for seeking Drupal support, or asking questions about how to make Drupal work.

Current objectives include:

  • Creation of a new question-and-answer support venue on Drupal.org
  • The eventual deprecation of forum and mailing list as support venues so that there is a single destination for all support.
  • Simplifying the act of providing support, so more people can easily provide support.
  • Providing a clear path from newbie to intermediate Drupaller, to active community members and beyond.
