Photo gallery slideshow delivery method-Best practices.

In my endeavor to convert a photo slideshow from one site to another I ran into a dilemma.

What is the best practice for slideshow delivery?

I ask this because it was drilled into us (students) about being web tidy, best practices, contributing to make the web and servers as green as possible. Not to mention shooting for an ultra-light site for fast delivery and higher possible rankings on search engines.

The two contenders (maybe more?) are:

1) Using one or more of the modules in Drupal (which is best, fastest and easiest to implement and for client side updating)?

All-sites theme & module best practices in a multi-site environment?

I'm new to Aegir and there are a couple things that are still unclear to me. Clearly Aegir will bring over modules in a specific site folder when you migrate a site, but what is the default handling of modules and themes in the "all" folder? I migrated a site from a drupal 6.15 platform to a 6.16 platform but it didn't touch the modules in the all folder.

Block caching and node_access: best practices for Drupal 6?

As we all know, block caching is very useful. However, on complex social/web 2.0 sites with a node_access module (like organic groups) block caching is disabled, because core doesn't allow block caching and a node access module running at the same time. While this is a weird architectural issue, I am wondering about best practices to deal with this on a drupal site with many authenticated users and a node_access module.

Take these questions for this situation:

Drupal coding best practices?

My goal is to build some community websites. Features include ratings, link sharing, user profiles, group calendars, etc.

Drupal provides much functionality out of the box. Modules extend that functionality.

With Drupal I can go in the right direction, but I am having lots of difficulty customizing the solution to meet my needs.

[version en français ici : http://groups.drupal.org/node/15683 ]

Hello and thanks to everybody for participating in drupalngo,

First, last week-end was great. Check

to get an idea.

One of the crazy goals of drupalngo was to make a data driven, community oriented website just over a week-end.

Recommended modules for Podcasting

Greetings from Texas!
I've been using Drupal to build sites for a couple of years, but, have never incorporated podcasting. I now have a need to build a site to host the business podcast of a long term customer. I'd like to leverage the experience of my fellow Drupaler's to climb the learning curve rapidly.

  • What are the best modules to use for podcasting? Why?
  • What are best practices (tips/tricks/traps) for Drupal podcasting?
  • When should I roll-my-own using CCK/Views?

TIA, David

Dedicated project space for install profiles and distributions?

Are there any existing guidelines or best practices when it comes to developing specific install profiles and distributions? As far as I can tell, I don't see info on this type of contribution (http://drupal.org/node/22286) or a means to set up a project similar to how you'd do it for a module or theme (http://drupal.org/node/7765).

I think this question is relevant to the context of this group. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
