E-Commerce v4 Update
Well we here in the E-Commerce team have been very busy, working on v4 of E-Commerce, as well and slowly working towards getting out v3.1 which has a few bug fixes in it.
Over the past couple of weeks I have done a lot of work in making E-Commerce much better at being able to handle products, and make it easier to create products that will do what you want.

ok so we have plenty of people who are able to do a multi site install of Drupal where they are the host and the developer, or don't have others working on the same site. I have a situation where I have multipul users that should not have access to each others files and I don't want to have to create additional ftp accounts.
I am on a LAMP server and want to be able to offer my customers the option to have a 'one install to rule them all' set up, minimizing the time it takes to upgrade the system. Drupal 5's overrides system works great for this.

Think this is the most applicable group. Prompting users to sign up before getting to see what your site is all about is super lame. Look at http://www.chipin.com right now. You can create an event right off the bat, simple.
So for our Drupal rewrite I want to allow anonymous users to create nodes then have them register/login to user accounts in the same process as a secondary screen.

As a part of the changes that are going to be done for v4 of E-Commerce I am going to be completely redeveloping the Checkout to use things like #multistep and also some changes to the checkoutapi() so that we can do things like have multiple checkout functions within a single module, and getting rid of the ec_tmp table.
As part of these clean ups I am hoping that this will help to make it a bit easier to develop for the checkout, and make it a bit more flexible.

Well we have still been working very hard to get the best release that we can.
This is the forth and final beta version of E-Commerce, and from what I gather the bugs have started slowing a lot, and E-Commerce has even dropped of the top of the list as the Most active project. E-Commerce has been there for about the last 4-6 weeks and so I think that we are getting there.
All going well next Saturday the 3rd March I will be doing the first release candidate.
Thank you all for helping test, and making this a great release.

Over the last couple of weeks since beta 2 was released all the E-Commerce maintainers have been working extremely hard to fix all the bugs, (and there was a lot of them) and get out a new Beta to allow people to continue testing.
As you can see from the http://drupal.org/cvs, 4 of the 5 E-Commerce maintainers are in the most active developers list, with the last one being there a few days ago. Also you will see that the E-Commerce project is the most project ATM.

All core translation templates are 100% translated in this bokmål release.
We have been releasing new versions too fast and this will be changed. This version will stay until we have officially launched the Drupal Norge website and have gotten feedbacks from the norwegian community.
Roadmap:
- We expect to release a 5.x-2.0 after this version. This version will be based from the changes and standardization decisions from the Drupal Norge community.
- Grammar checking, standardization of module names and commonly used terms are major priorities in versions 5.x-1.4-nb and above
- Work on the Nynorsk version 5.x.1.0-nno is planned.

Minor discrepancies with the sandbox
Just a heads up on the sandbox. It was taken from HEAD after Drupal 5 was released, so there could be some discrepancies with the latest release (5.1). Try to work with the latest release version.
edit: minor corrections based on merlins' comments.
