The Sarasota Drupal Users Group had a meeting May 3rd. We had a very interesting presentation by Stephen Barker.
Stephen reviewed the architectural / design decisions made for a complex site on "Military Visual Journalism" the requirement was for each years class to be able to document "their" project on its own website using a set of common base user / role tables that carry over for multiple years.
It is always interesting to see how you can use obscure features of Drupal (shared tables - using settings.php) to provide great functionality.
Some modules / libraries used where lava lamp, compact forms, dynamic display block, lazy loader, taxonomy image, image browser.
It was good to see Rob de Koter from Fort Myers at our meeting - he gets the prize for driving the furthest.
We will have our next meeting on June 7th at Panera - US41 and Bahia Vista (same place). For the June meeting we are going to work on an issue from the Drupal issue queue and try to come up with a patch to fix the issue.
I am hoping we pick http://drupal.org/node/1091150 - to fix the GMAP Taxonomy module for Drupal 7.
