Hello friends,

Pathauto was a really great module for me to work on. It was the first contrib I worked with. A security issue in it led me to being involved with the security team, which lead to my book, which led to my latest company. Given that I am no longer passionate about Pathauto I have talked with Dave Reid and Freso about transitioning away from being a maintainer. I'll still keep some attention on the queue, but having my name on the project doesn't make sense given that I'm not working on it so much any more. I'd like to focus on those other great things (Drupal security, new company, and groups.drupal.org) and have less guilt about my lack of attention for Pathauto.

I feel that it would be best to find someone else interested in working on this module before "leaving" it, so I'm putting out a call here. Anyone interested should match these criteria:

  • Believe in and follow the co-maintainer best practices
  • Have a good issue queue personality
  • Have some knowledge of the history of Pathauto
  • Have some interest in getting it into core for Drupal 8 - this seems like a great idea, let's do it!
  • Have time to dedicate - I estimate 2-5 hours a week is a good amount on an ongoing basis.
  • Enjoy learning

Note that "extremely amazing coding skills" are not a criteria. Consistency in effort and willingness to learn are requirements ;)

If you think that's you, the best way to indicate your interest is by having a history of good work in the issue queue.. Folks may want to "brush up" on the issue queue a bit before nominating themself as a co-maintainer.

Then you can either comment here or file an issue in the module queue suggesting yourself.
