Rob (rbayliss) will be presenting this month on how to contribute to Drupal. We'll talk about the following topics:

  • Using git to grab the latest versions of modules and Drupal core.
  • Making changes to contributed modules or core and how to do that responsibly.
  • Contributing your changes back to Drupal.org for others to use.
  • Understanding how your changes may be integrated back into the contributed project.
  • How to make a public module or theme on Drupal.org and what to expect.

We'll meet in the conference room at Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur again (thanks, Justin)! The office is in the Centerra complex in Lebanon, and the conference room is located around the back of the building, on the lower level.

And then afterwards, we'll adjourn to Margarita's for drinks.

1. From I-89 take Exit 18 and turn onto Route 120 North toward Hanover.
2. Follow Route 120 North for 2 miles.
3. Take a right into Centerra Parkway.
4. Take an immediate right onto Morgan Drive.
5. Follow Morgan Drive for .2 miles and its the 1st building on the left.

It'll be my first meeting as an official NH resident! I'd be happy to present if anyone's interested in one of the following:

Speeding up your Drupal site: Covering some LAMP stack stuff (alternative caching systems), but mainly focusing on what you can do within Drupal to make your site fast and scalable.

Apache Solr: Solr is a java based search backend you can run with Drupal that gives you access to features like facets (drilling down through categories within results). How to set it up, what you get out of the box, and what else you can do with it.

Contributing to Drupal: How to fix bugs, create patches, and generally get good Drupal karma.

I'm interested in all three, but that would be a mini-conference.

My order of interest would be:
1. Contributing
2. Apache Solr
3. Speed tweaks

Rob, great to have you back in the upper valley. Looking forward to sharing more drupal goodness.

I've moved to spain for a "sabbatical" year (still with my U.S. employer HCI), so I won't be showing up at upper valley meetings for a while, although I'll be following things. Hoping to join a local group here in Santander.
