Hi. I'm working on a new Drupal site (using D7) and am struggling to figure out how to do something that I think must be very basic. I'm using Panels to lay out a page with two panes. One pane (call it the "link view pane") contains a view of links to nodes of type "Event" (a custom content type that I've defined in my site), and the other pane (call it the "node display pane") contains the content (title, body, etc) of one of the Event nodes. Clicking on one of the links in the link view pane causes that Event node's content to be displayed in the node display pane.
I set this up by configuring a Panels page variant that applies to all nodes of type Event. It's working fine, but the problem has to do with what happens if the view uses a pager. In that case, clicking on one of the Events in the link view pane has the undesired side-effect of resetting the pager page number to 0, because the URL in the link to the Event does not include the pager page number.
I would like to somehow have my view generate links that include the pager page number, so that clicking on an Event link to display an Event will preserve the user's current page setting within the view pager.
I feel sure this kind of thing is possible using contextual filters or arguments or some such, but I'm not quite far enough along in my understanding of those things to see how, and so far my searching the documentation hasn't turned up anything helpful. Can anyone out there offer any suggestions?
I'm also just learning my way around the online Drupal community; if there are better forums for asking "how do I do X" type questions, just let me know! (I'm posting to this group because I'm in NC.)
Thanks!
