Greetings fellow California University Drupalers!

It's been some time since we've talked, but there are some important things to know about:
* BADCamp 2011
* Welcome new members
* Leadership of this group

  • BADCamp 2011

For those of you who are not aware, BADCamp is this weekend at UC Berkeley. There will be a higher education summit organized by some very competent people and with a lot of good information and networking opportunities. Please attend if you are able to do so: http://2011.badcamp.net/higher-education-drupal-summit

Furthermore, BADCamp is free and central, so I highly encourage anyone who can make it to do so, even if it is only on Saturday/Sunday. It will be worth the travel and time, trust me. These are great times for socializing and networking but also for asking the burning questions you have or getting the help you need on your projects. Or even just for getting the word out on what you are doing at your university/college.

  • Welcome new members

This group has grown by 20% in the last 3 months, which is about the time since I was last browsing through. Greetings to all those out there who have joined us from across the California University system. Feel free to create posts to talk about what you are doing with Drupal in your college.

  • Leadership of this group

It's with a heavy heart that I have come to the understanding that I need to pass on the leadership torch of this group, so that it can continue to grow and propser. Up until August, I was still working in higher education, while also working in my new role at Kiva. I've really loved the transition, but it means that I am no longer working in the day to day of the CSU, and I can hardly keep up with how things are moving along in these university systems. (Though I can say there has been strong movement forward with Acquia, which should get some attention to the cause!).

At BADCamp, I'll be discussing with others how we can keep this group alive, even as I move into an even less active role. If you'd like to step up to take the lead, just let me know, or post in the group to let everyone know. I ask only one thing, that consultants are kept out of the group, meaning this remains a group solely for those students, graduate assistants, teachers, professors, etc. who are actually working for a California University/college. While there is certainly a role for consultants in Drupal and they do great things, there are plenty of other venues for consultants, and I'm happy we kept them out of this group. This group's focus has been and should continue to be the promotion and adoption of Drupal in California Universities (whether CSU, UC, community college, or private). Let's work together to help each other to make this goal happen, whether that means evangelizing on your campus for greater adoption, or helping out your fellow Drupal site admin with the problems they face.

It's been great, thank you for having me, and keep rocking Drupal, we can continue to make California Universities better by leveraging Drupal!
