I would like to announce the launch of DrupalConVideo.com . Please read before you think this is another video site, or a site trying to rip off the DrupalCon name.

This is our goal as we have it posted on our site:

Our goal is to bring Drupal to Japan and at the same time help spread it around the world. We realize the incredible power within Drupal, but as Japan has been left out we felt we would do our bit to get Japan up to speed! We are here to do just that, and also help others that are in the same situation in their home countries. We are not just about DrupalCon Videos, but all things Drupal. DrupalConVideo will be a place where media and tutorials can be viewed with ease. We are not here to take anything away from the developers of the videos, tutorials and articles. All the videos, tutorials and articles will credit the authors and will provide links and information about them. Without them , there would be no Drupal and this site would not exist.

I am one of the founders of Alethia Design INC, a new company in Tokyo, Japan. We are made up of a mix of people from around the world. We have been working with Drupal for a while, and we have seen a slow growth in Japan, there is a community here, don’t get us wrong, but we want to make it more than what it is now. So what we are doing is building a site to provide information and resources all about Drupal, the content will be something that people can rate and give feedback on, and we hope to open it up so that anyone can upload thing content in the future. The top rated content will then be taken and ported to Japanese, and other languages. We invite people in other countries to join with us and do the same, and we are willing to work with you and help you on this. We hope to bridge the gap between English speaking Drupal communities and the Japanese Drupal community. We can’t do this without the support of others and we will provide links to all people who post their content. If content is posted that the authors do not want posted on our site, we will take it down right away. We are not here to use this in a bad way. We want to support the growth in and outside of Japan. We will try to find ways so that the site can support its own costs, but they will not be obstructive in anyway.

Here is our plan as it is stated on the site:

Our current plan is to make available quality content from both past and up- coming DrupalCons. Be we are not going to limit ourselves to simply this, we forwill make available any content that is out there that would help Drupal grow. Developers that would like to showcase their skills will also be featured. We then plan to translate the very best of our content into Japanese so as to help developers in Japan. If you are interested in doing the same for your language of choice, please contact us and let us know what we can do to help. We are not just here to help Japan, we would like to help you, wherever you are in the world!

We are looking for video content, tutorials and articles that will help people to understand what Drupal is, and how to make it work for their needs. If you can help, please contact us here: http://www.drupalconvideo.com/contact . We will also be contacting people with great content to see about bringing it over here or link to it. The ultimate goal is to provide a place where this content can be translated and accessed by everyone.

I hope the community will help us here to make things the most that it can be. We are nothing without your support. To read more about the site you can see it here: http://www.drupalconvideo.com/who-and-why . Right now, we don’t have much content (most is test content from DrupalCon DC) as the site concept was started last week (February 28th), but we are trying to push it out in time for DrupalCon DC to get any content form the DrupalCon if we can.

Regards,

Shaun Ward

P.S. Any feedback and support would be greatly appreciated. We are looking to do our part to help the growth of Drupal.
