Acquia Marina: How do I use or hide the blue stripe

Hello everybody,

after a consultation with our graphician I noticed that while I chose Acquia Marina to use on Drupal 6, I am not able to recognize the correct use of the horizontal blue stripe under the primary links menu that goes through the whole page. So it's unused and empty and it takes up precious space.
Would someone be so kind to tell me what text goes in there or how to remove the stripe? Thanks!

custom themed module's file

In some module I found the possibility to copy a module's file in my theme directory to create a custom themed file.
But with acquia_marina this feature doesn't work. The acquia_marina theme always loads the module's files stored in module's folder, not the module's files saved in acquia_marina folder. With other themes all runs well, why not woking with acquia_marina?
Can you help me? (if you understand my english)

Menus, Icons (pictures) , Styles not available to me in Acquia Marina

OK I have installed the latest versions of all Acquia Marina, Sknir and Fusion Core but am unable to style my menus as it says I should in the documentation and screenshots I've seen.

I've been trying to fix this for a few hours now and am at my wits end. If anybody could be kind enough to take a look at my installation at http://pricare.co.uk/ and give me any advice as to why my menus look so basic and iconless, I would be extremely grateful.

Many thanks

Al.

Creating a subtheme of the next version of Acquia Marina

I have a question about updating and sub-theming. I currently have Acquia Marina 6.x-2.0 installed and am looking to update to v3. but want to keep the current theme in place until I get v3 completely together with an updated aesthetic for the site, etc. . . I currently don't have Fusion installed and am unsure of how this will impact the update.

How would I go about accomplishing this?

Creating a sub-theme of v2 and updating it to v3?
Will renaming v3 and uploading it to the server work on it's own without an updated version of the base theme?

Panels Everywhere

It's my understanding that there is a movement to do away with (or at the very least heavily overhaul) blocks in Drupal8 and move toward the more flexible Panels system of rendering pages. I am an advocate and thing Earl is an advocate but am not certain just how much traction/support this movement has. I bring it up here because I would like to know how this might impact Fusion themes and the Skinr module and whether you guys embrace this possible development or see no need to do so (at least for the time being).

Do you think we are better off designing with one region or with many?

I apologize

I would like to offer my sincere apology to the Themer groups here on Groups.Drupal.Org and to this community in general ... I meant no disrespect to anyone. Being a non-artist I have the highest regard for those who can do what I cannot; create beauty in web designs and other visual art forms. Likewise as a programmer I have an equally high regard for all web developers and the difficulty of the work we do.

Question about GPL and NON-PHP Themes

If I build a Theme that uses no PHP or GPL'd JavaScript but does incorporate PERL code in the template would that PERL code need to be GPL'd?

I realize of course this would mean that the hosting installation would have to have PERL enabled on their server (not a normal Drupal setup) but I don't think that is the same as "requiring a 3rd party proprietary program" since PERL is open source and quite common on many hosting services.

GPL group recommends CMS templates be licensed under a different license.

... but templates are a special case, because they are combined with data provided by users of the application and the combination is distributed. So, we recommend that you license your templates under simple permissive terms.

Themes versus Modules

There has been much discussion through the years about the automatic GPL status of Themes and Modules, and I will weigh in on that topic itself in another post (see the bottom of this post). But for now suffice it to say that I see an argument in favor of requiring GPL for Modules but I see a very different and very compelling argument in favor of excluding Themes from the GPL mandate. This post is to address a pre-cursor to that argument ...

Updates - Dependencies

I'm using Acquia Slate 3 - 6.x-3.0-beta1.

The theme (which I love to bits and will till the day I get extremely rich and can afford a custom theme :-) ) has dependencies. These include, but are not necessarily limited to, Skinr, jQuery Update, jQuery UI, Chaos Tools - stuff :-).
