There is now a thriving Drupal community in Bristol.
Freelancers and developers from the many Drupal shops are regularly meeting up and sharing Drupal knowledge and experiences.
We're now meeting once a month, on the third Wednesday of the month.

Christmas meal
Since Chris has been sorting everything recently, I said I'd organise the christmas meal, providing there is enough interest.
Last year at the Urban Wood - with drinks before and after and zero degrees and the gryphon, respectively - was a resounding success, if I do (as the organiser) say so myself.
Anyway. Who is up for this? Suggestions for venue? Gotta be really cheap? Dont care? Can only come for a drink before/after? Dates?
The most important question is: are you interested? Then I'll have a think about where can accommodate us.

SWDUG Meetup - 9th October 2013, in Cardiff
Woah, that flew by!
We're having another meetup, again at the Owain Glyn Dwr in Cardiff, from 6pm til about 9pm. There's great food available at the bar, and a big TV for showing things off.
If you'd like to come along and show something off, please do. If you have questions you'd like solving, please bring them. The esteemed Rupert Jabelman has agreed to come along and talk about testing (it didn't work out last time, but I have high hopes!)

September Meetup: Lightning Talks @ Sift Digital

We'll have a decent size meeting room with computer and projector for a lightning talks session. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_talk for full details.
We've got quite a few talks so will be starting at 6pm sharp - We'll have the room from 5.30 so feel free to arrive before 6 if you can.
We'll have ten minutes for each talk and 10 minutes for questions. If we don't use up the 10 minutes question time, we'll just drop straight into the next talk.

A place to start talking about talks (rather than talking about talking about talks).
Post details either of talks you are prepared to give or topics you would like to hear about. There are a number of options, and it doesn't need to be major commitment.
Talks could range from the lightning talk format similar to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_talk to a more involved 30mins presentation. You don't even need to use slides. So five minutes show and tell on a killer module you have discovered for example.

Just had confirmation through that we're okay to have another meetup on August 14th (and every second Wednesday thereafter).
Since there hasn't been a huge discussion, I'm going to leave comments open for any suggested talks, or requests for anything to be looked at. I'll bring a laptop along, and could do something on using Vagrant for your dev environment, maybe. But perhaps some folks might want to talk about actual Drupal ;-)

Multiple images for a content type
hi all
i'm working on a product catalog for a store in drupal7.
for the products, we've got a number of gallery images which i'm currently handling in the content type as field_images and within the feed import as 'image1,image2,image3'.
the curve ball we've recently been dealt is that our product gallery images are now pairs of images so the client can specify a different file which can be used for the crop image.
feed import as 'image1|alt_image1,image2|alt_image2,image3|alt_image3'.

Just realized, that the time is almost upon us and there is nothing on the group yet.
Also aware that I offered to do a talk the title would be "Custom Entities and their role in Drupal as a framework" (trips of the tongue doesn't it?)
I can put some slides together and chat about my thoughts resources etc., most of it will be online though (blog posts). Probably feel a bit odd if I am the only one but prepared to do that if someone provides a pint of Dutch courage ;).

Welcome one and all to the South Wales Drupal User Group's first meetup of 2013 this July. Re-sited at the Owain Glyn Dwr in Cardiff, we will be gathering at 6pm to have a bit of a catch up and a chat, followed by some talks and/or demonstrations of interesting and (hopefully) Drupal related topics.
