It's taken me a while to clear my to-do list, but I took some detailed notes at the June Meetup and I'd like to post them here.

Also, would anyone be up for a Community Helpdesk day at CoLab this Friday during lunch?

The June Meetup was a question-and-answer, show-and-tell style gathering. Some of the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Q: I've been seeing problems with Blueprint and the Views administrative UI, AJAX?
A: Set the admin user's theme or the admin theme to a base theme like Garland, or check out the Studio theme pack. See also Admin module

July Workshop (CCK/Views) DrupalEasy @ Leu Gardens Coupon Code: FLORIDA

John showed off his Utica Fire Dept. Intranet Site to demonstrate some cool Views features, like Views Attachments
If you need special search features, maybe could try Views FastSearch
There are 7 or 8 content types in the site, all tied together with a nodereference. They are displayed in tabs using a block the Quicktabs module, holding a view in each tab.
To get very detailed reports, used Lightbox (in the future may use Popups API)
Makes heavy use of the built-in Backlinks argument type (Search: Links to), which uses a feature of core search to find any nodes that link to the given Node ID from the argument.
For the date-based views arguments, John finally ended up storing the date as text.

Gil talked about his Simplenews setup. Simplenews has a newsletter content type with categories for multiple kinds of newsletters, and the theme can override the output based on the kind of newsletter your site is sending out.
Q: How to know if your email will work with any email program?
A: http://Email-Standards.org, Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, Constant Contact

Kevin showed a custom module he wrote that pre-populates nodereferences once you hit the node/add/newsletter page.

Zach showed off the http://SkinnyBuddha.com local artist site.
He had an issue with a random block always showing the same result - we recommended he turn off site-wide block caching, or use the blockcache_alter module.
