Hi, so this might seem like a really stupid question but when I install the Julio distribution it creates the two accounts. Once installation is finished I am logged in to the day-to-day use account. I am slowly figuring things out but when I try to do anything in the Administration Control Panel that involves users, such as "create user" or "list all" etc., it tries to access an "/admin" folder that just does not exist and I end up getting "404 not found"..

Also, when I logged out, there does not seem to be any way to log back in... at least not clearly obvious...

Can someone please help me understand if I missed a step during installation? I downloaded just a basic Drupal core from their website, and there is no "admin" folder in that either.

Otherwise the site is working fine, but with no way for users to create their own account, or for me to administrate them..

Thanks in advance for your help!!
Jeff

Looging in Help

First, let's take a look at the structure of your site. Julio employs a clean urls to make urls more human-friendly. So when you go to /admin, you are not accessing content from a folder named /admin on your server. Read more about Drupal's structure here: http://drupal.org/node/31644

In order to log in, just add /user to the end of the main url. (drupal.org/user). If you would like a login to appear on your home page, you can go to /admin/structure/block and enable the "User Login" block.

You may want to take a gander at the Documentation section of the main Drupal website. Additionally, Julio relies heavily on Organic Groups (OG). You may want to take a look through the OG documentation if you want to customize groups.

There is quite a learning curve for Drupal, but in the long run, it is worth it. I've been working with Drupal for several years now and I'm still a novice. Luckily, there is a great community here and you can find answers/help fairly easily. Most of the time I just google my question and add "drupal" to the search and find my answers.

I've just started building a new site for my school with Julio and I'm really excited for all the possibilities!

Thanks, it's been tough

Thanks, it's been tough trying to get back into this. I seem to be getting a lot of 404 errors when trying to do the administration stuff. Almost like the friendly URL's are not being recognized. I do remember seeing something about that in here, maybe Network Solutions doesn't support it. I will go back and look for more information.

It's been a while since I have done any heavy web designing. This is going to be a nice little refresher in it!

Hi you may be experiencing

Hi you may be experiencing the sub-directory bug as described here. If so you can manually add in your sub-directory folder. So for instance if it sends you to /admin/ZZZ you can pre-pend your install folder name FOLDER/admin/ZZZ.

We had high expectations for the drupal core dashboard module, but it falls so short of what we are trying to accomplish there. We will be replacing that functionality with something better in the future.
