ELMS has approximately 50 modules, themes, and features packaged on drupal.org as well as two full-scale distributions. This group will help foster development efforts in the ELMS community as well as tackel large initiatives like integration with SIS, LDAP, porting to Drupal 7 and beyond.

XAPI formula to turn any drupal site into an LMS
Just wanted to point to a pretty killer combo right now that's emerged and works really well that would let you basically turn any drupal (7) site into an LMS.
https://www.drupal.org/project/tincanapi -- works really well, has some built in tracking stuff and plugs into...
drupal.org/project/quiz -- So you can capture the state of things in an LRS; Quiz 5.x beta is awesome btw
and also..
https://www.drupal.org/project/h5p_tincan_bridge + https://www.drupal.org/project/h5p so you can get XAPI statements emitted from H5P files to flow via Drupal to an LRS.
Tool Builder - Liberating Innovation via site building
https://www.elmsln.org/blog/post/tool-builder video showing new functionality built into elms that allows for effectively allowing anyone that can site build to submit their idea to our innovations github repo without needing to understand code or version control. This is one of the more ridiculous goals of the project.
We have armies of faculty, instructional designers and site builders throughout the education space. We're seeking to unlock the ability for everyone, without knowledge of code or version control, to be able to contribute their creations.
Read moreUnlock allowed number of attempts
Dear All,
In my site I created quiz content and set Allowed number of attempts.
- I set allowed number of attempts is 5. I test with a student user take a quiz 5 times. The user can't access to that quiz more time. I want to reset allowed number of attempts for the student. So, they can they can take the quiz 5 times again.
How to do that? - I want to choose allowed number of attempts from 1 to 20.
How to do that?
Thank you so much,
Read moreA11y toolkit module
Just wanted to blast it here as well that I made an accessibility toolkit module which provides a block to help provide ways of improving your site for different visual impairments; most resolving around dyslexia (like a font that makes it easier to read). We also store the setting in a cookie and in the future will do this on the serverside so it doesn't have to reload each time (as the screencast currently shows).
Support, feedback and improvement suggestions always welcome: https://drupal.psu.edu/blog/post/a11y-accessibility-toolkit-module

With 118 issues resolved, ELMS Learning Network version tipping point (0.2.0) is out with a comprehensive walkthrough of capabilities and discussion of what and why the system functions as it does. We now support CentOS 6,7, Ubuntu 14 / Deb, and Amazon AMI one-line installations. The walkthrough in this post just scratches the surface as we have 2 types of asset management systems with H5P support built in as well as support for LTI 1.2 (provider), REST (shown, and powers everything), and XAPI support it's a great preview of things to come.

ELMSLN + xAPI/Learning Locker + H5P + OpenBadges
Rick Humphries (@rickhumphries) recently did a video showing the work his group is doing with ELMS Learning Network, Learning Locker and H5P to transmit activity statements (XAPI) from ELMSLN to Learning Locker. Then it shows how ELMSLN is querying the LRS (learning locker) for what statements a user has passed and then granting badges based on matching those statements.
Read moreCyberCourse: distro for authoring courses
CyberCourse is a Drupal distro for authoring courses. It focuses on university skills courses, like programming, writing, and math. It makes flipped, blended, assessment-driven classes practical.
Build a course with many exercises. Students write programs, write emails, find math logic errors... No multiple choice quizzes. Students get individual formative feedback from humans. Practical at scale, at low cost.
Students can fix and resubmit their work until they get it right. Supports mastery learning.
Read moreDrush Recipes format
I looked around for something to do this but couldn't find anything so I started working on a format that will allow for the structured packaging of a series of drush calls. These digestible calls can be chained together or reference each other to form a type of recipe much like chef does; just specific to drush.

This screencast is a series of 4 videos (for now, will be more in the future potentially) that show how to get ELMSLN up and running with Vagrant. This is the easiest way to setup this system as other methods require knowledge of bash scripting and a clean server to deploy against.

Read moreCyberCourse and the author note reStructuredText directive
CyberCourse is software for writing textbook-like things.
An important goal is that content lasts for years (think decades) without change. It will work on new devices as they come along. Authors can move content across platforms (CyberCourse to ELMS to Moodle to PeeWee's Buckets o' Content Management System) without needing to rework content. Well, not much anyway. What rework is needed is done once for all nodes with regex.
CyCo uses CKEditor as a semi-GUI, not its usual WYSIWYG self. Authors write in reStructuredText. Think Markdown, but standardized.

Popcorn distribution
Any thoughts on a popcorn distribution, even just as a proof of concept, to show whats possible with the popcorn modules out there? I can't for the life of me assemble them into anything usable and I build distros all day so maybe an example would be a good place to start in getting greater adoption. I'd love to roll popcorn aspects into https://drupal.org/project/icor which sees some love as I get free-time.
Read moreLearning content authoring system (LCAS) group
There's a new group at:
http://groups.drupal.org/learning-content-authoring-system
It's for creating a distro to help authors write learning content, like Web sites that replace textbooks. The distro will have tools to help authors follow learning science principles, like outcome-based learning.
An learning content authoring system (LCAS) is not the same as an LMS. An LCAS instance will house content for, say, one course. Multiple LMS will use LTI/SCORM/TinCan to load content from the same LCAS instance.
