Meetup Notes from Fri. Sept. 7, 2012

REVIEW MEETING SOFTWARE:
The first item on the agenda was to play with the meeting software. The screen sharing component is cost prohibitive for collaborative screen sharing which is a goal of the group.

Ready Talk is offered by Kevin as long as there isn't a scheduling conflict. Phone call is recorded, videos are recorded to the server.

Every participant can share the screen. Chat functionality. No notes and agenda - but perhaps these could be taken on GDO.

Etherpad - Multiuser wiki. http://etherpad.com/

Preset up the Readytalk Meeting. (for the interaction/screensharing)

Post it to groups.drupal.org/community-media - and then post the screencasts as well. (for agenda and notes)

Readytalk setup for next week. Agenda/etc - will be sent to GDO. Kevin will send Drew info.

Drew will facilitate the next meetings. Sonia offered after the next month or two. Jason L. also volunteered.

Readytalk it is. Continue the time at 2pm EST.

GROUP GOALS:
RETN will be launching in the fall. RETN interested in one fall meetup as a site demo for them.

Phillycam would like to offer

Kevin: something is happening, MNN has committed most of it's code back to the Drupal and CiviCRM projects. MNN saw immediate return and iterative improvements to CiviCRM Multiday Day coming from contributions fromChannel Austin and Access Vision. Craig Sinclair will be headed to MNN for 2 weeks to help walk through the Civi-documentation.

MNN has asked for: writing job descriptions for the different types of hats. Different people have different roles, titles, responsibilities. That may help MNN and that this group may be useful for; could collaborate on. Shared documentation on the point people for the -- tracking the usage of each station and staff strengths. (Agenda for next week)

Sonia: What modules are you in the process of deploying? What state are they in?

Kevin: The wiki site for ALH is not used too much but could be used for these types of collaborations. Crew Connect for within this circle of users.

Documenting an active project is challenging. Open Media Project site serves as an example. It's a common refrain - 'If only we had a site that had only the tools we need - then we would be able to communicate effectively'. ALH site - then that site didn't go anywhere. Public discussion on GDO has really been the best.

It is doubtful if any among us even have the energy to build a site to support this...

Drew: Much of this comes down to compiling this information. It is worth revisiting these topics. Next week we can set up some action steps.

CAMPS and SUMMITS:
Loose talk of meets and summits, perhaps loose discussion.

2012 - ACMNortheast in Plymouth, MA (Thursday ,11/1 is the tradeshow and might be the best time to gather a group - 3:00pm?)
2013 - Austin willing to host in March.
2013 - National Conference in Media Reform in Denver (April15)
2013 - ACM National in San Francisco (late May)

What are folks really able to do in terms of travel?

Stefan: There needs to be a critical mass of people for channel austin. (40+?)

Kevin: We must make a distinction between camps and summits. Summits - ED focus. There are two different sets of goals and priorities. If there is a perceived overlap it could

SR: One of these fall calls. Invite the ED's / upper mgmt. only.

KR: A mix of skill levels; might make ED's a separate conversation. Early to mid October. A good timeline before March.

Tony Shawcross talked to Emily Frazier why she is working on cue builder for CCTV. The OMP 2.0 has cue builder functionality but the code is not committed back to Drupal for download.

Some kind of updated status report from all stations working on CM Installs would be beneficial, but the format needs some further discussion.
