Hi everyone,

I ran a session at last week's Drupalcamp Atlanta on "Talking to Web Services" (http://goo.gl/y9eWD), which included an initial "proof of concept" integration with the ECHO service (http://earthdata.nasa.gov/echo). The slides are on slideshare (http://goo.gl/gHdGw) and I'll post up the video when its available (in around a month)

This is very much just a starting point (sandbox: http://drupal.org/sandbox/dbassendine/1829568), but I'd like to hear any feedback you may have on ideas or directions for the integration. I'm really keen to make Earth science data much more accessible in Drupal so we can hook relevant datasets more quickly into existing visualization tools.

I'm new to ESIP but I'm looking forward to finding stronger crossovers between my Drupal experience and my previous education in Earth and environmental science. I'm a senior developer part-time with Mediacurrent here in Atlanta, but I put aside the rest of my week for science and sustainability focused projects - under a startup called Blue Dot Lab. Most recently, I've just started working with ESIP on a series of Commons improvements. I'm also eager to get involved with the working groups and really appreciate the social infrastructure being built up here.

Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you all in the real world soon.

All the best, David

David,
I will pass these on (and the links) to the ESIP Drupal WG. Looking forward to seeing this project move ahead. Perhaps you could do a webex of this in December?

ECHO Webex

Hi Bruce,

I'm sorry to be a while getting back to you.

I'd very much be interested in presenting on Drupal / ECHO at some point, although I'd prefer to schedule this in the new year. The existing presentation is geared towards web service integration in general, and I'd like to some time to refocus and expand on the ECHO side of things for the ESIP group.

I'm quite heavily committed with ESIP work until the end of January, so I'd potentially be looking at March? How does that sound to you?

Thanks, David
