Four awesome base themes for Drupal 7 (David Thorne)

Base themes give us a foundation for faster and easier Drupal theming by allowing us to create sub themes that inherit the parent base theme's capabilities.

David Thorne will speak about theming/skinning your Drupal website and compare the following four popular base themes: Omega, Zen, Fusion and Adaptive Theme.

Insight: Client engagement and my web design process (Anthony Albertyn)

This is a lightning talk on how I manage the design communication and delivery process from initial client contact to invoicing and post sales follow up. This will be useful to anyone who works in a small team or independently for themselves, but it could equally be applicable for larger teams (with adjustment) too.

Questions and Answers session

This will be an open discussion where you will get an opportunity to "ask the experts" questions and as a group we will try and answer them. This is a great way to learn something new!

Updated: Design Essentials for Coders (Steve O'Connor) - this presentation by Steve has unfortunately been postponed due to illness.

The visual design of a website takes more creative skill than writing the underlying code, right?

Wrong. Coders are creative too! In this presentation, Steve O'Connor will show you how you can apply visual design basics without once looking at colour palettes or Photoshop, but looking at the aspects that support and enhance a sites functionality.

With over 10 years as a visual designer behind him, Steve has had a diverse experience with graphic and web design. He is currently immersed in mobile application design working at Airsource Limited.

This is our last meetup for 2012 and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Regards
Anthony and Jeff

DrupalCambs - Update to one of our presentations

anthonyalbertyn's picture

Steve has called in sick and is unfortunately unable to come and do the design talk tomorrow night and has asked me to postpone his talk to a future meetup. Our meetup is still going ahead so our key presentation will be David's talk about "Four Awesome Base Themes For Drupal 7". In the second session we will have a "Questions and Answers" session and possibly a lightning talk (to be announced). You are welcome to change your RSVP but I hope that you will still come along. This is a great opportunity to learn about Drupal and make new contacts in Cambridge. Hope to see you all there!

Code from my presentation

Hi guys, the code for my Themes talk is available at https://github.com/cferthorney/presentations (Which as an added bonus you'll get copies of all of the presentations I have done at DrupalCambs over the years) It has 1 Drupal site with all the bit you need to play with each theme. You just need to setup the site within your development environment (I left the settings file in there with the database username and password - don't worry it's not one I normally use for anything other than DrupalCambs presentations!)
