Dear CDMUG,

How are things? Everyone still loving the #1 open source CMS?

I am writing everyone to announce the CDMUG summer vacation will be over shortly. I apologize for the gap in events from month to month, but I wouldn't feel too bad. I spoke with many other organizers in countries from all over the world at Drupalcon Paris. They are lucky enough to get more than 15 people to meet every few months. This proves that Chicago is one of the largest Drupal communities in the world. Great work everyone, it is because of you that we have this wonderful group.

Unless we have a volunteer, we will not be meeting in September. I will not be back until October 1st. If someone is available to organize the meetup, I can setup a location, date, time, advertising, etc. You simply need to show up, welcome people, and get the ball rolling.

Thursday October 15th at 7:00 PM Duo Consulting has volunteered a meetup location. We are opening RSVP up to 50 people. Other than Drupal Camp, this will be our biggest event ever. Our good friend Doug Vann will be in attendance and also presenting. "When a local, Chicago businessman needed an elaborate website for scheduling peoples daily tasks he came to Duo Consulting. When Duo Consulting needed a CMS that could integrate a shopping cart with a complex set of business rules, they went to DRUPAL. This presentation will feature some of our team members explaining how we overcame development issues building out the BizyBizy Project; a business that helps busy people get things done like pet sitting and grooming, dry cleaning, child watching and tutoring, etc." Topics: Integrating SalesForce with Drupal, Re-Engineering the check out process of UberCart, Handling unique business logic for scheduling complex appointments.

Drupal Camp Chicago will NOT be happening in October. I apologize to everyone who was planning on an October and Halloween themed event.

Drupal Camp Chicago 2009 WILL be happening in December 2009 (planning meeting TBA). Every single sponsor from last year and more has offered to take care of anything we need. However we will be charging $20 per person to guarantee attendance. Yes, we are still in contact with Sashah Ruge from http://thechefspalette.com to cater the event again. You will be sure to enjoy the atmosphere of last year's event plus more.

November will have one standard CDMUG event. More details to be released later.

December will have two CDMUG events: Drupal Camp Chicago and our 3rd annual holiday event.

January and moving forward. CDMUG will continue to have monthly meetups. Let us know if you have additional meetup spaces as we are always growing. Ideal meetup locations include free stable Internet, chairs and power for 20+ people, projector, plus various other nerdy aspects.

A major topic at Drupalcon Paris was Drupalcon Chicago spring 2011. More information to be released as it becomes available.

Please contact me if you are interested in presenting at CDMUG. Members love coming to events and learning how innovative Drupal projects were accomplished. While planning events for the next few months I would love to hear about your work.

If anyone has any thoughts, ideas, negative comments, or wants to volunteer. Please let me know.
