Hi Everyone,
I know, its been rather quiet from us since the announcement of the Drupal SiteBuilding Usability Initiative some two+ weeks ago. Well, BADCamp got in the way and Michael and Doug was busy mingling with all the amazing Drupalers there for starters. While they where doing that, I spent my time learning and configuring Open Atrium as we have chosen it as our collaboration platform for Drupal SBUI.
There are still some bits and bobs missing and content is a bit sparse still, but we don't want to delay things any more. So, therefore I have today made http://community.drupalmill.org/sbui-pm/ open for anyone interested to share ideas, experiences and start working on improving the Drupal sitebuilding experience.
Why outside drupal.org?
While we would have loved doing everything within the d.o infrastructure, we feel it doesn't really cater to our needs. the gdo/usability group is great, but it is not very easy to organize work the way we need as it mainly is a discussion group. We will need to create many projects that groups of people will work in and they need to be better organized than the tools on d.o currently offer.
We also want to allow anyone interested to both follow the progress on those projects and chime in at any time. While Open Atrium isn't perfect, it does does provide us with a much better platform and user experience.
Contributing back to d.o
All the outcome of the work done on the new platform will of course be contributed back to d.o when relevant. Hopefully, if everything goes as planned, it wont take long before the that starts to happen.
