Project Management pitfalls

I've found there's one common mistake that I've made as a Drupal developer/Consultant, time and time again: project management. I wrote a short blog about my learning experiences here: Project Management If you're new to the world of professional Drupal consulting, read it to prepare yourself. If you're old, please add some comments to help new recruits understand the value of working a plan.

I give some real world scenarios as examples of mistakes that I've made. It should illustrate why it is critical to follow every step of the project management process. It'll help you avoid a lot of the pain that I suffered through.

For anyone new to the world of Drupal consulting, you should really read through this blog.

Good luck and May the force be with you,

Video design variable considerations

I thought I'd share some of the critical success variables back with the community. Hopefully, I'll help you avoid some of the growing pains I suffered through.

Solo tech training company needs Drupal guidance

I'm a solo training company needing some Drupal help with UberCart.

Would need someone to help me pick a good template, get the installation up to par, create a good framework and get UberCart (or EventBrite if UberCart is too much) functional. Then offer some minor support as I fill in the content and set dates for classes (btw, I teach CISSP, CISM, Security+ and Network+ if anyone is interested both live classes and online classes for Eastern and Pacific)

Any advice and help is welcome

Invoicing and Contracts for Consultants.

I have been looking to automate my billing. will probably setup my own ecom solution to do this, but before I start, I'm looking for some sucess stories or ideas. Perhaps there is already something I should be looking at before I start the project.
I just hate to re-invent the wheel.

I figure I will probably do something with OpenAtrium for project management.

How to deal with Release Cycles, Updates, and Clients?

I have been wrestling with this subject for awhile, and searching the groups and forums with no luck. The recent Release Cycle discussion http://groups.drupal.org/node/100584 has me asking, "How does everyone deal with this and relate it to clients?"

Webform to Zoho

I'm currently involved in a project that captures webform data and posts it into zoho as a "lead". In an earlier version, we had PHP in the webform itself, but now I'm upgrading it to a standalone module which hooks into relevant webforms via hook_form_alter. Currently it's not generalised enough to become a general-purpose module, but it could be. Is anybody else doing anything like this, or need to?

Creating From the Point of Content

With many of the businesses marketing on the Internet there seems to be a lot of emphasis on creating a handsome looking site, but to what end? Isn't the idea to convert visitors into customers? Without excellent content on the site what businesses are left with is equivalent to a brochure that isn't read.

The question is, how will the site be used, and is it designed to help the client sell more or have their business awareness greatly enhanced? If it isn't doing at least these two things, what is the point?

Drupal Guilds & Open Guilds

FYI, I've just submitted a group for Drupal Guilds & Open Guilds, which is a concept that I've been brewing for about a year now (based on discussions and other ideas that have taken a decade or more to gel). I've finally begun writing down some of my ideas for this this summer, and have decided it's time to open the concept for further discussion and debate. Without further ado, here is the elevator pitch for this grassroots organization:
