How Can We Help?

Hello,
Is there a community or a crowd around openAid? how can we contribute, If not, is there a desire to stir one up? I am a member of an NGO and have used openAid as a distro , been working on the site (www.mawared.org) ( its arabic) for about 3 months now and i know my way around the distro a bit, and since I am an Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) coordinator, i have taken genuine interest in this project. My code needs lots of cleansing, but I do have a drupal 7.20 updated along with lots of additional contrib modules (simplenews, panels, html5Media, as well as RTL enabled theme as you can see) and its working well, some of which took a while to do, In shorts, I'd hate to see other projects active and this one not. Please let me know if there is an interest in building up a community or dev. crowd around it, or if there is already one.

Hi mareshal,

It's great to hear that you're interested in contributing to the OpenAid community and project. We'd love for your help. OpenAid was started by the company I work with, Aten Design Group, and we've wanted to help foster a larger community around the distribution.

I know that there are others out there who use OpenAid and have contributed and would like to contribute more to the project. On our end we haven't been able to devote as much time to fostering the community around it, but we would like to. Your interest in getting that community more active could be the spark to get that going.

The most helpful thing at this point would probably be to look at the customizations you've done with OpenAid and see what makes sense to incorporate into the profile itself. Some of the features you mentioned could prove to be very useful to others using the distro.
